Players who should have been dropped long ago but are still playing test cricket
Most teams have them at the moment- Players who you can only assume have compromising photos of the selectors which they threaten to release to the press if they are dropped from the team. My current list would be-
Marlon Samuels (averages 25 with the bat in tests since the start of 2013)
Martin Guptill- Bullies Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, has a combined average of 24 against all other teams in over 30 tests.
Mitchell Marsh- Australia constantly talk about his 'potential', but two years after his test debut, he averages 24 with the bat and 36 with the ball.
James Vince- No fifties in seven tests this Summer. What the likes of Hick, Ramps, Matt Maynard and co would have given for a similar run of opportunities for England in the 90s.....
Alex Hales- Aggressive? His strike rate is lower than Cook's. And he averages 27 in 10 tests.
Any others I've missed?

The list could be endless. For Aust, Burns, M Marsh, Henriques, Neville, Holland. Khawaja possibly.

I'm talking more about players who consistently get picked despite dismal stats.

Mitch has been sent home from the Lankan Jamodi tour to freshen up because according to Boof "he has a big summer ahead of him"

If Indian selectors keep picking Sharmas who disappoint, why was Ajay Sharma only given the one test despite a FC average of 67? Was it because of his ordinary ODI performances or did they think he might be a naughty boy?

Because he was $hit even before he got on the square. When he was born his parent lovingly named him The Quintessential, Fundamental, Essential Essence Of A Flat Track Bully Who Refuses To Bat If The Bowler As Much As Glances Sideways By An Inch.
Unfortunately it was too long for the school records so they changed it to Ajay Sharma for short.

Is it coincidence that Sharma is an anagram of a Marsh?
