The main highlight of this game is likely to be:
Australia v South Africa, Second Test, Hobart, 12-16 November
It's very early (too early) to start a Test thread, when it's not even the next Test we're playing, I know ... but I'm not going to be on here much for the next little while and I wanted to have an easily locatable 'place marker' for discussions on this match and associated Bailers social arrangements.
I'm currently booked in (accommodation) in Hobart on the nights of Friday 11 and Saturday 12, and my intention is to attend the cricket on Saturday 12 and perhaps Sunday 13. From previous communications with JGK I'll probably be driving down sometime on Friday, perhaps in convoy with him, "sight-seeing" at wineries and distilleries along the way. On Saturday 12 I am attending the cricket with friends from my (Northern Tasmanian) cricket club, which has rather thoughtfully been given a bye by Cricket Tasmania in order to encourage us all to attend the Test, but I would be free for beers and a meal with JGK, BD, horrie (can't wait to see those latter two together), and/or whoever else is about on Saturday night. If I stay through until Sunday the arrangements will be similar; otherwise I expect I'll be driving back up North on Sunday and leaving you to it.
JGK if you are staying on the Western side of the Derwent as you advised me earlier, I would suggest you consider a water taxi across the river to the ground, it will be quicker and similarly priced in addition to the novelty and scenic value, and the walk from your arrival in Bellerive will be obvious (follow everyone else) and is short.
I know skully has totally stuffed up his travel itinerary, the SGDT, and that he won't be in Hobart at all. I did hear a rumour at one stage that Zat might be in attendance, but that was months ago, and I don't know if that's still on.
So JGK, Zat, horrie, BD; if these plans for the Hobart Test sound compatible with your own, let me know, but texting or emails may be safer than a message here as I won't be about here as often as in the past.
I hope our cricketers play more effectively at home than they've played away recently!

All sounds grouse. I'll be there with a mate from work and my brother (who will be there as an early 40th present).
I'm back in Oz next week so will let arrange for more precise details then.

I'll be there. Am planning on all five days at present however some recent developments may limit this. I think we can assume all political differences will be left at the entrance gate.

Aye...just hope the weather starts improving.
Re: Australia v South Africa, Second Test, Hobart, 12-16 November
Bit better up this end already. We actually got a game in on Sunday, will train tonight, and probably play again this Sunday if forecast is accurate.

phurt at that cheeky poll...my plan is a fly in with Ms H on Friday - staying with Ms H rello and out on the Sunday...Ms H in charge (things have come to a pretty pass) and we have to go to MOMA at some stage - better be the Friday!!!
Of course BD and I will get on likeBellerive a house on fire. I have always seen a socialist sub-text in his posts - or something like that....Lardy misinterprets our minor points of difference down the years and certainly underestimates our many points of agreement, eg
1 Bailey got a raw deal.
2 Dubbers are generally overrated as is anyone named Marsh.
3 The Libs could not have won the last election with toxic tony.
4 The ljh is not greatest polly of all time.
5 Bird is a bloody useful bowler.
6 Trump is not the greatest Donald of all time.
7 The Iraq invasion was based on lies and has had the unintended consequence of boosting the numbers of crackers folk who think they will score squillions of virgins if they blow themselves and other folk to bits.
8 Kids overboard was not a happy chapter in Oz history.
9 Noel Pearson is a shyster.
10. Pat Howard - the big lying rodent - was first unhelpful to Oz Rugby and now Oz Cricket.
11. The Ponting legacy is undervalued.
12 Ed Cowan is a decent bloke (tho a bit of pale pinko) and cricketer whose career was stuffed around.
13 Palest Pink leader Shorten needs his be-shorted backside smacked.
14 Krudd and Gillard are disgraceful.
I agree with Senor Dog - our minor points of difference will be left at the gate.

For those left who are contemplating venturing south i recommend thermals & wet weather gear as the forcast for the test is absolute crap.

Forcast has now changed to 90% chance of rain & following two days not much better. We are going to have one of those post El Nino events where summer doesnt turn up until January i'm afraid. At least we might escape with a draw.

Fergie did nothing in the last shield game so would probably fit right into Aust team.
