Well I'm going to call it- Darren Lehmann won't be the Aussie coach.

How about Jake Lehmann as our national No 6?

@ Trev: who knows. They might leave him in place until Adelaide is done. They seem unlikely to appoint a caretaker and you wonder if others are ready to come in right now.
There seem to be multiple coaches and assistant coaches around the squad, but none that will take any responsibility for this debacle.

auditions start in two days:
NSW v VIC (Sydney)
SA v QLD (Gabba)
WA v Tas (WACA)
players to watch (IMHO)
Wade
Handscomb
anyone from NSW who scores 30+ (Patterson, Maddinson)
Doolan
Agar
Bancroft
Lehmann
They'll probably pick Klinger.

Handscomb for Voges, Chris Hartley for Nevill, Bird for Mennie, o'Keefe for Lyon, Gillespie for Lehmann.
Perhaps even Warner replacing Smith as captain.

Come on, they're not going to tip all the tables over at once.

Too late for Hartley - would have been a good pick 5-6 years ago, but he's 34+ now, his keeping isn't at Nevill's standard, and his batting (previously a strong suit) has been in decline.
If they go for a backstop who can bat better than Nevill, they'll choose Wade.

Neville will stay but his batting to date hasn't been Test quality for a modern No 7.

Mennie and Ferguson certainly look like one-test wonders.

They'll give Ferguson another go I reckon - esp in Adelaide. Probably Mennie too as the local.

So ... Mennie, Ferguson, and Burns have to go. Voges almost certain to go as well. Shaun Marsh won't be fit enough yet to replace Burns, and his cards may have been marked anyway, ironically just as he was starting to show some spine.
I'd go with Bancroft, Doolan, Bird, and Mitch Marsh. If Lyon is to go out, I'd put Agar in.

Doolan seems like a bit of a biased pick on your behalf. Doesn't have the numbers to justify a call-up. You really think they'll recall Mitch Marsh? He needs to play Shield cricket and make big runs. Wickets would be a bonus. Madison and Patterson from NSW must be on the radar.
Wade? Well I've never thought he had the temperament. is keeping is pretty poor as well. Who's keeping for WA and South Australia these days? If it's a couple of 21 year olds, then maybe a punt needs to be taken on one of them. What's happened to Whiteman from

I think the only change will be Voges (one way or another). I'm not sold on Smith as captain yet but Warner is someone's bad acid trip.
As the test sort of doesn't matter I'd be inclined to at least give Mennie and Ferguson another chance, though the problem is a day/night test may not prove anything one way or another.
The whole team management structure definitely needs an overhaul in terms of both people and direction.

I'd tell Mitch Marsh to go back to Shield cricket (if they'd have him) and/or bother T@) leagues around the world.

Glovework is a bit off at the moment and his batting is ordinary. Wade should replace him.
Sniffy should be sacked. Put on a real sook today, attacked his players but took no personal responsibility.
Vague will go....the wasps will be keen for Mere to return, tho Hanscomb should get the gig. Burns has to go as must Lyon. Put Uber in to open. My team
uber K
GCS
Stoinis
sniffy2
Hanscomb
Patterson
Wade - captain
O'Keeffe
Starc
Bird

Sniffy is a leader of Hughes quality. Wade is tough and clever.
Boof should stay. The NSP shd resign before the Pak series

Nifty stays on the basis of his keeping , coming in for at 5 for not many doesn't help ease the pressure on his batting.
Not often I agree with the commentary team, but WTF is the batting coach doing??

Clearly coaching them to bat as he did.

My memory maybe diminishing but Hick wasn't that shite, apart from the end of his career.
Must be some Pomgolia/Zimbot ploy.

Re: Australia v South Africa, 3rd Test, Adelaide, 24-28 November, 2016
Small points but surely we are talking about Nevill and O'Keefe here, and we at least can get their names right. Not sure Warwick Neville was ever up to much and Kerry O'Keeffe is still busy commentating, although he'd probably be a better option than Steve O'Keefe.
Trev, it's not just Tozzie bias re Doolan ... until his last Shield match he had been in good touch this year, after a shocker last year. He has made scores (reverse order) of 2, 8, 21, 2, 79, 93, 87*, 67, 23*, and 13* since the start of the year, that's 395 runs at an average of 56.43.
Re the Keepers: Whiteman just has not kicked on. Ludeman (SA) is a bit of a slogger, and a new SA keeper, Neilsen (son of) is being auditioned for that role. Wade can't keep, but at least he bats well. Paine is the best keeper in the country but can't get a FC game because his batting isn't up to it any more, well not since he moved to open for Tassie in the ODIs. Nevill is the next best keeper but his batting has gone to the dogs since he starred with the bat a couple of seasons ago. Ryan Carters has also fallen away with the bat. Hartley used to be very good with gloves and bat, but has fallen away in both departments over the last year or two and really he is only just hanging on to his place in the Queensland side; he no longer plays in their ODI side. So for those reasons I think they'll most likely keep Nevill, or just maybe put Wade in, because 4-5 new players will be more than enough!
