Re: Australia v South Africa, 3rd Test, Adelaide, 24-28 November, 2016
My point, again, jus that his batting (which gets him the test gig) may deteriorate if he is also burdened with the gloves. Like Phillips. Like Nevill (check NSW figures as a batsman when Haddin was still keeping, deteriorating after he started keeping). Like Alec Stewart at Test level.
Wade's batting whilst also keeping is likely to be better than Nevill's batting whilst also keeping, based on the samples seen so far. No point choosing Handscomb to replace Nevill ... he's in to replace Ferguson or Voges.

Hope I am wrong but see him as a 43 average as a specialist bat and 39 as a keeper bat... would prefer the latter as he is a good keeper.

Exciting?
I am reminded of the last day I ever went rock-climbing. When I had failed for the fourth time in a row to make what was a a difficult manoeuvre for me, falling 15-20 feet each time, and was preparing to try that move again, I realised that my trembling in advance of that attempt was due NOT to excitement, but fear.
What you currently feel as 'excitement' is the same.

I think wank has his game together and should go alright
madman played a couple of good shield innings vs the wozzies last year but too often you get the sense he thinks everything is a t20
renshaw ...some good fc scores ...probably another solid shield season would be better
They may go alright
or it could be like putting robbie kerr in front of Sir Richard

Maybe the prophets of doom will be proven wrong.
Will be also interesting to see how SA responds to mintgate.
Much angst in Victoria over White not getting a gig in the ODI team, considering the Vics felt let down by some of the recent test selections. They feel he's ostracised in the same way Hodge was.

Naaa...that would be leaving Joe Burns there when he's in the worst form of his career....which is how Robbie got kneecapped

Mytyt is in great form...should have been selected ahead of Maxwell, Mere Bailey or Fink on form. However his form tends to be short term. At his age I would not have picked him.
The one vix player who is unlucky is Stoinis. Best of the batting all rounders and a good team player. Decent bowler too. Injury farked his start to the season.

Hard to argue, Red and h. We could do a lot worse than have ShyT in the middle order shoring things up after GCS and Lark fark up.
Meanwhile, 21C and cloudy expected in Addledville for the D/N Test.

the toss between sniffy and the cheat will be interesting. Fapper wins and could be tempted to send Oz in. But this would risk the yarps batting in the 3rd session.
Sniffy may send the Pte schoolboys into bat. He'd hope they struggle through day 1, losing their last wicket in the last over. Given we have no spinner, we may as well bat last.

Now you're just allowing malice to stand in the way of sense. Agree re Maxwell and Finch, but Bailey's ODI form has been superb. Check his figures, overall and recent. More to the point, he has usually succeeded when the pressure is on. You have succumbed to a sustained Chappelli campaign of Bailey-ridicule.

Aye. Kerr had been a solid performer throughout his first four Sheffield Shield seasons but in 1985/86 was totally out of form. Despite this, he somehow managed to struggle his way to a very rusty 80 in a Shield match around the same time as Wessels decided to pull the pin on Australia. For some crazy reason, the selectors picked him for the next test against Richard Hadlee at his peak.

No malice intended to Bails, who I admire. Maybe my post was not clear.
Mytyt is in temporary wonderful form far superior to others. But I don't support his selection as he is just in a vague form line. I do not support his selection.
He like Bailey is a smart guy and decent leader
I think the NSP and the vix screwed him up. His own refusal to develop his bowling is something he can be rightly criticised for.
With an ordinary team he proved to be a v smart skipper. Vix success owes much to him
Personally, I would have him well ahead of Mere and Maxwell, because of his leadership smarts. But his time, truncated as it was, has gone.

Day/nighter. Anything could happen. Probably a good toss to win if only to get the most out of a first day pitch for two sessions.
