Odd question. I am in hospital and have been denied access to cigs and booze. These normally keep me calm.
BUT
Have busted the tibia on my left leg. With the fracture dropping two cms. Took two days to get op. Swelling too high, respiratory infection and bizarre anomalies with blood pressure readings delayed op until Sat. Hope to escape Tuesday but will be lucky.

Very quick start for Sri Lanka and Lakmal. Very poor effort by Cook, to be fair.

He's just a fill-in for the Saffies until a decent player comes along; clearly the weakest player in that line-up. I am surprised he hasn't made way already tbh.

Genuine opinion. He looked a walking wicket throughout his tour here; perhaps he was good at 24 but he's past it now, even if he did get lucky once here and then cash in against the Sri Lankans.
You need to find a better player.

Really a genuine opinion? When he gets out he's a walking wicket but when he gets runs he's lucky? Three tons in 2016 against 3 different attacks. You can understand why I'm skeptical..

Yes. The Venn diagram of opinions which differ from yours may include some 'trolling' but it also includes genuine opinions. I based my opinion of Cook on watching him in three Tests here; he did not look good to me at any stage. His century was laborious and (early on) edgy. I thought he was the weak link in your side, along with the lack of a spinner.

Fair enough. Anyway the bottom line is that Cook and Elgar are the best openers in the country. I have previously said they are not the world's greatest but logically you have to pick the best you have.
SA haven't had a decent spinner since Paul Adams so that isn't a problem.
IMHO, the weak link is Duminy as evidenced again today. But he is bulletproof.

I'm not yet sure about Cook, but Elgar is a solid player. Very good hundred today.

Temba Bavuma is a really decent specialist fielder right now.

... only 377 runs to go, with 6 wickets still in hand.
Piece of piss.
