Re: *The United States Presidential Election * (III)
He's been inaugurated then. And there's me hoping that it was all a hideous mistake.

Re: *The United States Presidential Election * (III)
Interesting line from the Donald's inauguration speech:
"...because we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, DC, and giving it back to you, the American people."
------------------------------------------------
I think he's going to get a very rude shock once he has to deal with Congress. Or does he think the GOP will simply do everything he demands?

Scary line:
"We will seek friendship and goodwill … but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first."

Look on the bright side. Saturday Night Live will have a wealth of material for the next four years.
Re: *The United States Presidential Election * (III)
OK so I've now had a decent listen to the speech. Apparently his minders praised him for spending so much time on it himself, getting it just right.
If that's the case the God help us all as The Donald would seem to be illiterate. WTF does this mean for instance?
And whether a child is born in the urban sprawl of Detroit or the windswept plains of Nebraska, they look up at the same night sky, they fill their heart with the same dreams, and they are infused with the breath of life by the same almighty Creator.

More of an indictment on the US voting system. If there was compulsory voting like here i have no doubt Clinton would have won.

True.
However, one of the first jobs of any Presidential aspirant is to get your supporters to get out and vote. Hillary failed miserably at that.

Maybe Democrat voters were just complacent, thinking they didn't need to vote, as shirley no-one would vote for Donald McDonald.

Hillary carried her own baggage. Any other democrat would have killed Trump.

Which is exactly what Trump did.

It seems Trump drew inspiration from Hollywood blockbuster Avatar, where the identical lines were delivered by Colonel Miles Quaritch in 2009.
“And whether a (human) child is born on Earth or in the space colonies or the minswept planet of Kabuska, they look up at the same stars, they fill their lives with the same dreams, and they are infused with the breath of conquest by the same almighty Creator.”
He and Melanie are a perfect match after all.

Sweet Baby Jesus, we are so farked!!!! A loon that steals lines from Avatar and The Dark Knight is now the most powerful man in the world. God help us all.
I can just imagine the Donald sitting in his jocks on the lounge with a bucket of KFC watching Avatar and telling Melania (as she plays with his hog) "Wow, what a great line. I'm gonna use it in my inauguration speech".

Of course, the people that signed off on those lines going into the speech MUST have known that it would be discovered so the scary thing is that they are so untouchable that they CGAF about it.

Ironic for a guy who got where he was because of his anti-Hollywood elite message.

BTW, this is the first time, apparently*, that the word "windswept" has been used in an inauguration speech.
