Locally I look forward to any statement from Abbott, Shorten or Erics Anazi condemning Trump for saying  white supremacists contain nice people.

Meanwhile I had not realised the Trump has a 'panel' of evangelical advisors....what a bunch of rogues. As the other panels fell apart after Trump's comments on Charlottesville, this one is highly supportive.

The New York Times editorial today makes for an interesting read. I cannot remember a time when I have been more obsessed by US politics. 

It is an odd period in history when I can find some comfort in three key Administration positions being filled by generals. 

The NYT editorial also makes the point there is some comfort to be found in the incompetence of the Trump admin preventing implementation of draconian positions.

And dare I say, I think Trump might not be the worst person to be around while NK is threatening (and can deliver) on nuke strikes.

Even KJU must accept that Trump might be mad enough to bomb the whole damn place if he fired first.

There's no doubt about that.

Surely any President would wipe the place off the map if Kim was crazy enough to strike first (with an actual nuke to US territory, or perhaps SK or Japan, that is)... Trump's potentially crazy enough to provoke him into doing so though.

The biggest danger is NK launching another test missile and the USA mistaking this for a genuine attack and unloading both barrels onto NK, in which case it's a case of "stick your head between your knees and kiss your arse goodbye".

Against an evenly matched nuclear adversary (e.g. Cold War era) decisions would have to be taken very quickly or otherwise you could be obliterated before you had chance to respond... whereas at the moment NK still has only a remote chance of hitting one major US city, so you would think the Americans have time to assess their options in the case of some sort of attack on a US overseas territory or military base. South Korea and Japan are at most risk of being caught in the crossfire, and hopefully any American response would avoid endangering their allies unless there was really no alternative.

I've read some articles on NK's military capabilities. Such is the archaic nature of their weaponry and air and sea hardware (KJU has poured all his meagre cash reserves into his missile and nuclear program), it is estimated that the US could hit them with conventional warfare and wipe them out in a week.

It makes KJU's brinkmanship scare campaign all the more idiotic and perplexing.
