New Zealand v South Africa, 1st Test, Dunedin, 8-12 March, 2017
As Red says in the JAMODI thread - now on to the real cricket.
The Snoozies' dilemma will be whether to chuck up a green top or not.

They were 3/22 - good revival by Faf and Elgar.

Fourth wicket (Faf 52) falls at 148. Elgar still composed on 87.
With Bavuma, De Kock and Philander to come, not too bad. Esp after 3 down for 22!

Elgar is orchestrating a great fightback. Now 103*.

It has been clear for some time that Duminy is not a test no 4. Neither is he a 5,6,7or 8.

He's an Australian #6.

He would be an Australian all rounder. Shows the level of test cricket ATM.

The Quota Queens of CricketSA will be going "I told you so" with Bavuma on 64* helping SAf out of some poo.
I feel sorry for the young man. He must feel so much pressure when he's not performing and probably being frowned at for his continued retention of his position in the Test side. Shades of the Justin Ontong debacle.

Boult to Bavuma, OUT, just kept moving too much around the crease and Boult has reaped the rewards. Why would you mess around with your footwork suddenly? Went far too across to work it to the leg side, but could only manage to glove an incoming length ball down the leg side to the keeper. Had he stayed still at the crease, he may have managed to nudge it down to fine leg. New Zealand are chipping away. Handy knock nonetheless from the little man
T Bavuma c †Watling b Boult 64 (227m 164b 10x4 0x6) SR: 39.02

So Cricinfo is telling me that the Snoozies have NEVER had a century stand for the second wicket against the Saffies!

Colour me shocked - Latham failed against a non-minnow.

Patel appears to have de Kock's measure.
SA will be disappointed with the last part of their batting today.
Pitch seems a bit tepid. Williamson leading from the front; Taylor limping off was a blow.

Read, most of the wickets have fallen in the first session of play on the two days. NZ have had the advantage do a new ball on each occasion. Let's see how NZ bat in the morning session, albeit against an old ball.

If there is reverse swing, it could be interesting.

Classy ton to Williamson. He and Watling are pushing towards a lead.

Yes he can. Nice little tail wag at the end. Snoozies take a 32 run first innings lead.
All being set up nicely.
