By the way Mr. Dog, as I recall, you and Lardy have knifed other keepers for years and boosted Rusty. Expect a count of Rusty's errors. That is how keepers are assessed.
Wade, Neville & Haddin made those errors all the time & never copped the crap that Paine will.

To be fair, Wade and Haddin copped shit all the time. Wade nearly killed Elmer's career before it started and Haddin cost us the 2015 Ashes. I don't recall too many misses from Neville who would have taken that edge.

Yeah, the Spiv start to the Shield season has been grouse. AS you say, if the national side can follow through, it'll be a great summer.

Good effort from Elmer.
Wisely he threw to the bowlers end.

Starc's bowled 19 out of 65 overs. There's no way he's making it through the summer.

Aye. The crap from Purple forces Seasick to overbowl him. Lucky Elmer is doing ok.

Another Brittle error, failing to collect an under edge of Starc.

Slow scoring by England is keeping us in the game. They should have 300+ by now.
Re: Australia v England, 1st Test, Brisbane, 23-27 November, 2017
If we can make the most of the new ball tomorrow, we might grab the advantage.
But this wicket looks like a blancmange, so a draw looks the best bet.

Honors even.....which is better news for them than us.
Vince looked good, Stoneman solid, Haze bowled a crap first spell, PC & Starc both good, Lyon still supposed to be the weak link but isn't, and wasn't. We badly need Moween O'Hawa's wicket early tomorrow.

Elmer bowled a great couple of spells. Stiff to not grab a couple of wickets.

Looks like the flat docile wicket met its match in supine English batting performance.

Agreed. But he usually performs best on day 1. This time it was terrific that he did not leak runs.
All up it was the poms day. Kudos to Neph for batting on winning the toss. Good for the Poms that it was the players on their first Oz tour who carried the load. Only Chef and Neph looked like the ghosts of the special menu demand tour affected them.
For Oz Koo was ok and both Second and Elmer were good. Purple did a passable imitation of Hendrick, the classic pom military medium seamer. He bowled without skill and discipline. The fielding was sub par with the exception of the Sneak and Elmer. Brittle's footwork behind the stumps was better in the final session. His miss of a regulation catch gifted valuable runs.
Seasick Steve organised the bowling and field without imagination.

Re: Australia v England, 1st Test, Brisbane, 23-27 November, 2017
I can see England’s reasoning here- play the long game, wear the injury-prone Aussie four man attack down, it’s the first of five tests, it’s Brisbane.....they get criticised for playing gung-ho cricket and throwing their wickets away, and now they are criticised for being overly cautious. The pitch didn’t look that easy to score on, and the outfield wasn’t particularly quick. Only Vince really gave his wicket away with an unnecessarily risky run. The rest were undone by good deliveries.
Frankly, I’m pleased we are still batting after the first day. And I’m also pleased that we made their quicks bowl quite a lot of overs. We didn’t race away with the honours, but we’re hanging in there. It was good old fashioned tough test cricket. And a couple of England players performed well above expectations.
Bring on day 2.
