Has to be... though Cook increasingly looking like time is up.
Fair f*cks to Root for taking a step down, even if the Ali experiment didn’t pay off. No point continuing to sacrifice yourself supposedly for the team cause. Presumably Vince will come in to bat at three at the Oval.
Entirely new top three for a series decider? Would surely be a first, but probably improve our chances.

Was worth a shot, as a one-off. Root needed to take himself out of the firing line. Not sure it will make too much difference, as the England captain continues to do his best impression of that bloke from Coldplay, and I’m not talking Will Champion.whitburn wrote:WTF is Moeen doing at 3??? England in the driver's seat with India having to bat last.

Stokes runs out his captain and probably hands India the match.
Unless he makes a century here, he has to be the one to make way for a number 3 batsman at the Oval.

Glued to it.
I think we've probably got enough now though, can't see India chasing 200+.

I reckon the target is 250.
Seriously impressed by Curran

Kohli and Pyjama could chase down something close to 300 if they get in, but if not they could subside quickly. We’re slight favourites but it’s going to be a close one.

Big if though. India have never chased down anywhere near a score this big in this country. I'm feeling pretty comfortable over night, outside chance of an Indian win but I think we've nearly sewn up the series now and I would be shocked if we lost from here. I'd always worry with us chasing a small total but defending a decent total I'm not worried.beamer wrote:Kohli and Pyjama could chase down something close to 300 if they get in, but if not they could subside quickly. Advantage Pomgoila. A 250 target would be a big ask. Can Lady Di hang around with the raisin?

Coaly sure dodged a bullet off Moeen.
I don't really think he got an inside edge and ball-tracker showed he was out lbw otherwise.

Shame, kind of wanted a decider. Good series though even with the dead rubber at the end.

Pity some bannies suffered spinal deficit disorder.
Kohli can't do it all.
Bizarre that Ali took 9 wickets for the match.

Well, that didn't pan out over the 4 days like I expected.
After the Bannies rolled England for 260 in I1 I thought "abject England batting", but not necessarily so. The ball dominated bat for 4 days. And isn't it good to see?
Well done England on securing the series win.

Now will our gutless administration let the curators have a free hand?]

Nah, Q. It'll be 5 roads again this summer. E-Coli will make 1000.
