It is ok Nigel. Even grads from good schools can make error. Guess it is Lodge night in Yarpville.

I am only dubious about the ones he plays at.
Still, the Billy has scored a ton. I am wondering what would have been the odds offered by jtb on Monty scoring the first ton of the summer?
I took the double ton for 5.50 and have already cleaned up on Burns and head for fifties at 3.25 and 2.75 for a handy 9.00 payout.
Had to do something as I got a bit drunk last night and took the Lankans at ten. Unfortch the mini collapse didn't push Oz out far enough to totally lay the bet.

A former Bails colleague asked via another medium what is the record for the highest partnership at a ground's maiden Test.
The answer is this one (currently 296) surpassing Dean Jones and Steve Waugh's 260* for 6th wicket at Hobart's maiden Test in 1989.
MrK suggested Sandham's Test but best stand at Kingston's maiden Test was 249 between Sandham and Ames.
Mr bucket suggested Redders and GCS at Perth - 219.

KP2 dropped 1st ball at short leg - a sitter.
Geez the Lankans have shelled plenty today.

The record is Mankad and Roy's 413 at the first test at Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

How's Monty's luck?
He watches the Bannie quicks torment the Aus openers all summer until one is dropped then strolls in against a 2nd Grade attack (more fools Ed and Ooze) on a Canberra road to book a lazy Ashes tour.

I confess to not watching a ball or listening to coverage.
Did Burns and Head bat in a convincing manner? Or were the Lankans bowling rubbish. I presume the wicket did a little early but quickly became a Manure Oval road. Is that right?

A little from column A, a little from column B.
Burns and Head looked pretty solid after the early collapse, then Monty was dropped on 34. They waltzed away after that. Head was dropped in the 80s. Both batsmen were dropped again after their tons.
After the 2 were set the Lankans basically gave up at least one 4 ball every over. It was a dominant partnership.
Jimmeh is giggling.

Agree, and appearances can be deceptive because I noted that he was cheering enthusiastically when the boys brought up their tons today!

I mentioned at the time of his selection that the selectors must think (or I hoped they did) he is over his mental issues. Clearly he was not and is far from ready to represent his country.
I feel for the lad.

Will be an ongoing issue he must learn to manage. I really wonder whether all those concussions have had an impact. When I have heard him interviewed he is always bright articulate and humorous.
The story of completing his double ton when he was at his worst is remarkable.
