That is pretty useful. Seems to have done his job with bat today.

Reefers batting after Pomgolia dismissed. Surely the Poms could not have had yet another drunken night involving pedalos?

Righto, 30 with the bat and 37 with the ball.*
In future I will replace "bits and pieces" with "Moeen"
*figures correct at the time of going to press.

I'd be laughing at England only for the fact that we are shit and are struggling against a depleted Lanka side.

It does seem the pitch was largely to blame in this case, though we’re no closer to finding a functioning top order. Perhaps more disappointing was our bowlers’ failure to take advantage of it and knock a few over before close.

Windies batting with far more composure than England.

But still we can't take any wickets, well 1, in the time they took 6 of ours. Jeepers.
Aussies must be relishing facing us for damn certain.

The Windies players are showing a lot of backbone. If the tail can wag, a lead of 100+ would make it hard for the Poms.

Yep. With double centurian Holder still to come, the Ganjas would be very hopeful of that 100 1st innings lead.

S, looks like one of those innings which reaches a decent score, but where no batsman tops 50

Holder building again. What a classy cricketer he is.
Lead up approaching 80.

Ganjas 6-272 at Stumps on Day 2 - 85 ahead.
Might be a match-winning lead on this dodgy deck.

Hard to believe how bad this is after Sri Lanka. A number will be playing for their futures in the dead rubber. If Root doesn’t get runs or a result, I think we might need to consider a change of captain for the Ashes. As I’ve said many times before, Australian batsmen get the captaincy and turn into Bradman, English batsmen get the captaincy and turn into Chris Martin. And Coldplay are rocking the Pyramid Stage right now, so to speak. We need our best batsman back.

It'll do no good beams.
Alastair Cook was generally as bad as the rest of them for most of the last two years.
May be better getting our second best out of retirement. Gooch may be 65, but I'd put good, hard cash on him scoring more than the current lot ....

Bit tough on Gooch. Given Pom selection policy, he'd have to learn to keep as well.

I’d still say that bringing in Eoin Morgan as captain batting at number 8 would be a decent call.
Actually, ****** that, play the entire JAMODI side and tell them to go out there and get 400 in 50 overs, instead of 200 in 80. We’d win a shitload more Tests that way.

You are only as good in any sport as your last game, they say. Botham said this week we have the weakest 1-5 since the 1970s. Harsh? Probably not.
Yes, i firmly believe that Anderson is past his best and getting old, frankly, Broad is pretty much the same and yes the Australian pace attack is going to cause a very poor batting line up no end of problems.
If we can't deal with ROACH and GABRIEL FGS on a pitch where a number 8 got 200 not out, do you really think our top order will deal with a fired up Aussie side with their best players back and having points to prove and plenty to make up to the fans?
A combined 11 would probably only include 4 of ours.
You think the Aussie batsmen will outscore ours against our bowlers with a Duke ball, even with Smith and Warner back? Recent history suggests otherwise.whitburn wrote:This is not a test quality pitch even though my almost 15 years young lad warrants a place in THAT crap batting line up. People tell me we are going to beat Australia? Really? They are having a laugh and a not very funny one. The team aiming for the top of world test cricket not so long ago look like the Banglas or Ireland 11 on overall quality.
A number 8 scoring 200+ not out against us was bad enough, but, what the hell, maybe someone else can suggest why we are this bad? Taipan? You usually see things pretty clearly sir.

Maybe so, whitburn - but I'm betting one of them would still be an ageing Jimmy Anderson who is still bowling as well as he's ever done.
