NFL 2019/20
Couldn’t find last season’s thread, but... a bombshell on the eve of the season with Andrew Luck quitting at the age of just 29 due to persistent injuries. A team fancied for the play-offs at least instantly starts being talked about in terms of tanking for the #1 draft pick instead.
He joins Gronk and Megatron as players who have walked away before the age of 30 in recent years. Meanwhile Tom Brady, seemingly only a couple of years away from his centenary telegram from President Trump, is likely to shrug off the loss of the former to win his seventh Super Bowl.
Will Mahomes be as good as last year? Who will win this year’s NFC lottery? Will Kyler Murray be a superstar or a bust? These questions, and more, to be answered...

Re: NFL 2019/20
Yeah, I saw them as a dark horse contender this year in what looks a mediocre AFC. They’ve now been pushed out to 60/1 rank outsiders. Brissett isn’t a terrible backup, but they seemingly have no other viable QB on the roster behind him. The “K” word will no doubt be mentioned...
It’s remarkable how many stars are taken out of the game prematurely while the likes of Brady and Brees are still going strong in their fifth decade. My money’s on those two finally meeting in the big one this season.

Luck does strike me as someone who could end up as a HC or GM if he’s motivated to follow that path.

Patriots are embarrassing the Steelers. And that's without Antonio Brown playing.
Meanwhile, the Browns came back to earth pretty hard.

Superb match between Saints and Texans just now. Saints won with a 58 yard FG on the bell.

I know they’ve played a couple of decent teams so far, but what odds 0-16?

They have to wait until every team’s lost, don’t they... I think they might be praying for a Patriots defeat in the Super Bowl itself.Bradman wrote:The '72 team broke out the champagne early this year.

Yeah I realised that after I hit send and couldn't be bothered to edit. I think the Pats topped them one year, without the SB win which is the whole point I spose.

Re: NFL 2019/20
Big Ben done for the season, Steelers join the race for a top five pick. With Brees and Foles set to miss around half the season as well, it’s QB carnage at the moment. Added to Luck’s retirement just before the season, that’s four big name starters down by week 2, the TV execs won’t be impressed! Some backups with a chance to make a name for themselves I guess (preferably not in the way Nathan Peterman did last year...)

So the Jets are about to complete a half of football where they have a net 4 yards passing.
Mahomes racked up 278 yards in a single quarter yesterday.

Re: NFL 2019/20
Getting down to your third string QB early in week 2 suggests it’s not going to be your season... mind you, so does being in the same division as the Brady-Belichick Patriots, which has been the fate of three unfortunate teams for the last two decades.JGK wrote:So the Jets are about to complete a half of football where they have a net 4 yards passing.

Browns defender rips the helmet off the Steelers' quarterback & beats him over the head with it.

Looks like OSU and someone else. Maybe not even an SEC team as predictably they destroy each other. Though LSU might survive.

Just saw it. Quite bizarre. With 8 seconds left in the game as well. Looks like a LONG suspension.
