Australian Domestic Season 2020-21
The draw is out for next season's BBL (couldn't be arsed to post a link to the interminable thing) and it has 56 games plus semis and the final.
Chris Lynn less than impressed
" ‘Golden goose has been cooked’: Lynn rips longest ever BBL fixture in deleted tweet.
Brisbane Heat captain Chris Lynn has delivered a scathing assessment of the new Big Bash League fixture, which was released on Wednesday.
But shortly after posting his take on social media, he deleted the tweet.
From start to finish, the season will be longer than BBL09, but there will still be 56 home and away games plus a finals series.
...
Crowd averages were more than 30,000 per game in 2016/17, but last season this number dropped to less than 19,000, albeit with some games at regional venues."
-----------------------------------------------
Hard to argue with the Heat skipper.

all about the money. CA don't care that fans & players want the BBL to be shorter

True enough, Nath.
But it does seem like overkill. I got a bit tired of the BBL last season, and it takes a lot for me to get tired of cricket - even clown cricket.

I am absolutely delighted by this appointment. I doubt there are many smarter cricket blokes going around. He always comes across as a decent person. I will miss his analysis in the media. I hope this appointment proves a stepping stone forward to the recovery of Oz cricket from the current dumbarse Bewdy Newk era.

What a (bonus) career he had. Great analyst of the game; hope he's got some decent young players to work with.

More likely to try to renegotiate the current deal than walk away.

Definitely sounds like they are thinking they paid overs, and want to try and get a better deal.

My youngest bro is an Eels fan and he turned off at HT. My middle bro is a Bunnies man - he didn't turn off.
Benny has the Rabbits humming right now.

No cricket in WA. Looks like the WA Govt has ruled out state and international cricket in WA.

There was a rumour that the Indian network with the rights was hunting down local tv producers with a view that the test series would be played in two hubs and Perth and Barreltown would get two tests each
Not sure if McClown will bend over for the BCCI as easy as CA does

it was in paper this morning (behind a paywall online. So download "Bypass Paywalls" browser extension for that):
The security breach by Sydney Swans AFL player Elijah Taylor has rocked Perth’s cricket summer and sparked a likely early detour to Adelaide.
The Australian and Indian cricket teams are likely to quarantine in Adelaide before the November-December Test series and the Adelaide Oval has zoomed into contention to host the first Test of the summer.
It could even host the first two if the Boxing Day Test cannot be held in Melbourne.
The original intention was for India and Australia to quarantine in Perth but West Australian premier Mark McGowan has clamped down on Cricket Australia’s plans to have Australia and India in a “soft hub’’ in Perth where they could have trained and performed quarantine protocols. Many of the players would have been returning from the IPL in India.
Perth was scheduled to host the first Test of the summer against Afghanistan but that match remains in doubt and may be put back until after Christmas.
There was a feeling Perth could have hosted white ball games between Australia and India before the Test series but that plan will now be aborted.
McGowan told Perth media he did not feel it was acceptable for players to start training in Perth after returning from a high risk location.
Taylor was sent home after breaching team hub rules in Perth with a secret meeting with his girlfriend and that incident has made WA officials doubly cautious about sporting hubs.
Perth was not originally scheduled to host an Indian Test but Melbourne’s COVID-19 issues brought it into play.
However it now seems unlikely there will be any international play in Perth this year.
The MCG could well be named as the venue for the Boxing Day Test in a schedule to be announced this week but its chances of hosting the Test are fading.
