Attn Lardy: Bruce Francis
Hi Lardy
Bruce is the 2nd worst Oz batsman to have been repeatedly gifted a Baggy Green.
His campaign to be the worst ever Advocate on a sporting issue continues.
Will keep trying to copy/paste a letter from Bruce published today on BigFooty.
Maybe Fred or Embee can do the trick.

BF's letter of course concerns the Essendon Drug saga.

Re: Attn Lardy: Bruce Francis
Just Googed 'bruce francis big footy' and most recent link is six weeks old, and as above refers to the Essendon 34. Bruce may have similar initials to Atticus Finch but I suspect is nowhere near as good a lawyer or as upstanding a citizen (and Atters is probably not that much worse a batsman despite being a) an American who never played the game, and b) a fictional character.)
Big Mouthy has not visibly improved.

Dunno if that links - BCF's change.org cover letter, names the Age and Nick McKenzie and Chip LeGrand (but it seems no fault is found with the reporting of Caroline Wilson)

I wonder what Ian Chappell thinks of him now.
I also wonder if he's good at anything.

Possibly the same as he thought in March 1972 but was too polite to say (unlike AB re Wayne Not-bloody Phillips 20 years later) - 'I wanted Lawry but you gave me THIS turkey!!'

I'm not sure I believe that. From 1970 - 1975 Chappell was focused on sidelining potential rivals for the captaincy, fraternal rivals aside, and his comments re any desire to have either Redpath and Lawry in the 1972 touring side ahead of Lamentable Bruce were only made many years later, and smack of revisionism.
Wayne N Phillips at least had a reasonable Shield pedigree ... his selection was left field, the timing was completely wrong, and the Anyone-but Swampy feel to it was reminiscent of the Eastwood for Lawry substitution; but on FC performances his elevation to a Test cap was not nearly as ridiculous as that of B*** C*** F***, who truly rose without trace, on the back of failure after failure.

Batshyte Bruce has been quiet of late.
The omission of Redpath from that touring party was a travesty.

McKenzie, Redpath and Lawry should all have been in; more importantly, that was my view (and a very common one) at the time.
Hammond or Colley, Francis, and Inverarity or Watson should have missed.
With hindsight I'd like to have left Taber out but in those days a reserve keeper was always sent, and they probably thought Ross Edwards could not fulfil that role.

NSW all time Shield averages
Francis: 30 games, 1548 runs, overall average < 28
Victoria all time Shield averages
WN Phillips: 52 games, 3456 runs, average just under 40

Or his other one - as a 29-year-old who'd taken 10 years to get noticed and then mainly for his fielding, who had not played in any of the World XI matches, he was possibly the '4th best middle-order bat (not related to Richie Benaud)'. Roscoe was always treated as the optional extra, batted out of position (spec ref Headingley), and discarded too easily.
(When I saw Bruce F had reappeared again I was sure it would have to do with the Sydney COVID outbreak)

Don't have the faintest what this is all about but did skim through the letter and saw these lines
The good news for me, the 34 Essendon players and the club, and bad news for ASADA, was there was sufficient information in the seven pages to know I had got the lying bastards.
Did I read this right? This is a formal letter / email sent by someone who's in a professional interaction with an organisation/ body? Or is this just politics with the letter mainly intended for media (makes it worse, I think of it) ?
You guys do things different in 'Straya.
