Gary Kirsten throwing his hat in the ring for the yet-to-be-vacant England coach’s role. Providing it’s not all formats. Seemingly putting in a good word for James Vince, so maybe time to give him the FEC tag…

So who will replace Head? Ussie? Interesting that Mitchell Marsh, Nic Maddinson and Josh Inglis have been added as cover.

we already had enough like for like bowling replacements, so another batsman, all-rounder and keeper in case of emergency is smart thinking.
sounds like the BBL is struggling over the next few days though, positive test in the Thunder so unsure if tonight's game is going ahead. positive tests in the Stars camp, so Jan 2nd match vs Scorchers might be postponed too.

You'd have to think Ooze is no. 1 to come in for Head, given he's been in the squad the whole series.

The 4th test looks increasingly like it will be cancelled. As usual the weather forecast is diabolical.
I expect the Poms will be very keen to get out of the joint and will use this as the excuse to go home.

Yep it was an autobahn like the Perth Test that preceded it. How do we know this? The worst player in Oz Test history scored successive tons.
The recent MCG wicket was a close imitation of the grand old WACA pitches - fast with lots of true bounce. It was great to see the quicks have a decent pitch to bowl on. The pitch by Day 3 was a belter to bat on - just a pity the Poms were in no mental state to take advantage.
I see the BNLG has called Mitchy boy up for T4.

Candidate last time. Apparently Silvertongue impressed the panel coz he could use Power Point.

Get your money on the Draw.
Stoopid Spiv weather. Ruining a whitewash should be the last straw for Jan Tests at the SCG. As it stands the combo of the Spiv Govt and CA is jeopardising the Hobart Test.
If it was back to the traditional Jan 2 to start we would have at least 3 days of fine weather , enough time to get a result.

Anyway, England have called up Adam Hollioake.
As an assistant coach, but he’d probably improve the team if he actually picked his bat up…

Can't see why this has to start as late as Wed. It's almost stretching the definition to call it the New Year's test.

Since they moved it back, there’s hardly been an MCG Test which has lasted 5 days anyway.

Was he in line to play otherwise? Even at his age he’d have fancied a crack at this England batting line-up…Nath wrote:Glenn McGrath has Covid now

A pox on CA.
Up here on the Dubber Mid North Coast it has been very humid every day leading to an arvo/evening storm. I imagine Sydney is similar.

sounds like Starc and Hazlewood are playing, so final spot is between Richardson and Boland
