Just watching the West Indies v Australia game. The Windies got off to a poor start losing 3/12 (a familiar score) but Rivaldo Clarke & Ackeem Auguste have had a good partnership & they are now 3/99

Nivethan Radhakrishnan is an interesting character bowling both left & right arm finger spin. However, he is copping a bit of stick at the moment.

During the lunch break they are showing the 2016 final between India & West Indies. Pant opened the batting & was out stumped off Alzarri Joseph for 1 just wandering aimlessly outside his crease.

Windies bowlers included Joseph, John & Paul.

Thanks Wally esp for the story about the ambidextrous spinner. I cannot imagine how much work the lad has put into his craft(s).

I am close to ambidextrous, being equally hopeless on both sides. In social games I would bat left handed and become a mad hooker and puller from the get go. In 'competitive' cricket and batting right handed these were shots I would not play.

Good story, Horrie! When I was at high school, I would occasionally bowl left arm finger spinners in the nets although I was normally right arm. I could land them okay but undoubtedly would have been smashed all over the park if I tried it in a proper match. Just something different to pass the time along with impersonations of Jeff Thomson, Froggy Thomson & Kerry O'Keeffe.

Teague, Cooper?? Why do people feel the need to label their children?

I was thinking the same thing last night. Most of the team have names that weren't seen when I was a young fella. At least, our opening bowlers are Tom & William.

Conolly's first wicket was a beauty. Radhakrishnan also got a decent bit of turn.

Sri Lanka chased 251 to beat west Indies... four dropped catches by WI helping them. Raveen de Silva kicked the ball away from the bowler when going back from a risky single. Not given out obstructing the field.

Afghanistan struggled with the bat & were eventually all out for 134. Vinuja Ranpul finished with bowling figures of 9.1/3/10/5.

It looked as though it should be an easy victory for Sri Lanka but they have collapsed. Currently 7/52 including 23 extras (22 wides). 3 run outs haven't helped.

Sri Lanka fell 4 runs short, and extras was equal top scorer.

Australia finish with 7/276. Will that be enough?
