Apparently “seriously ill” in hospital with “uncertain prognosis”. Nothing specific but doesn’t sound good. Whatever’s been striking down Aussie legends seems to have made it over here.

He was recently appointed head coach of Afghanistan, so hope he’s not stuck over there as don’t imagine the healthcare would be that great. Hope it’s not linked to his past mental health issues either. All the best to him, in any case, one of our toughest competitors in a challenging era. We could do with a player like him in this day and age.

No detail. Sounds like a physical rather than mental illness, and probably not cancer, or I doubt they’d be talking of uncertain prognosis. Maybe a bad infection, TB, inflammatory disease, or (if cancer) some sort of lymphoma. Hope for the best for him.

Well, was wondering about something self-inflicted given the secrecy. But could easily be a heart issue or Covid complication or something similar to what happened to Chris Cairns etc.
