Yeah, some Test quality concentration would be nice, not the T20 reverse sweep mentality of T2.

Re: India v Australia, 3rd Test, Indore, 1-5 March, 2023
I hadn't checked out the method of calculating the WTC table. I have now.
The 2 teams with the highest percentage (points scored divided by points available x 100) after full cycle of Test series go through to the Final. The cycle is almost over.
Points: Win = 12, Draw = 4, Tie = 6.
Current position:
Aus has two games remaining (v India) in cycle. If Aus simply (ugh) draw one of their two remaining games their position will be 19 games played, 10 wins and 5 draws. Percentage = Points scored (10 x 12 + 5 x 4) divided by points available (19 x 12) x 100 = 140/228 x 100 = 61.40%
The only other team that can push for a Final spot is Sri Lanka. The have 2 games remaining v NZ (to make 12 games total). They have won 5 and drawn 1. If they win both, their percentage will be: (7 x 12 + 1 x 4) / (12 x 12) x 100 = 61.11%
SL cannot make the Final if Aus draws one more game. But on current form and mind set, drawing at least one of the last 2 Tests is a monumental ask.
The 3 possible outcomes for the Final are:
India v Aus (with a draw needed by Aus to ensure) as above
India v SL (two wins to India and 2 wins to SL)
or
Aus v SL (two wins to Aus) - nahhhhh!

Smudge fails in his first challenge as the new skipper. He loses the toss and India are batting.

Our only hope is to somehow knock over the Bannies for a lowish total, then miraculously go big ourselves before the wicket falls apart, then roll India in the 3rd innings.

So, the first over sees two non-reviews, both of which would have claimed a wicket. One caught behind & one LBW.

Rohit caught behind 1st ball, not given, not reviewed. Then out 3 balls later lbw, not given not reviewed.
Smudge is guaranteed of a pair now.

Australia trying the Ku Starc bowling partnership.
It will bring back memories for Prince Andrew.
Sorry. I don't know why I wrote that.

Gawd knows what the Indian spinners will do when they get their turn. Australia might be lucky to reach 26.
Pujara bowled by a Lyon delivery that turned a mile & kept low.
