Harbhajan v Hogg
... remarkably similar series bowling stats.
I guess they're both shit and will never play Test cricket again. Although perhaps Hogg can be excused partly on the grounds he was bowling at the best players of spin in world cricket.
Warne thinks so ...

Re: Harbhajan v Hogg
both bowled dross...Harpy's doosra is less effective since made to change action...why was Harpy targeted more than MuMU to change his action???
Piggsy always struggled to be a decent 4 day spinner...little surprise he was a failure

Re: Harbhajan v Hogg
Kumble really rates Harbhajan, so I doubt Adelaide will be his last test, unless the selectors come down hard on him.
Or the BCCI for making them spend a few thousand Rs. more for flying the lawyer there.

Re: Harbhajan v Hogg
If Hogg's finished after suffering at the hands of Tendulkar and Laxman et al, logically Harbhajan (even worse figures) is also finished?
Hogg's figures in this series weren't much worse than Warne's and MacGill's when they were last challenged by the Indian batsmen.

Because he wasn't "born" that way. Poor Harby.

Could have been. Is there photographic evidence that he wasn't?

Are you asking if someone was around to photograph his maa ki when he was born? That's a bit off, even for a Tasmanian.lardbucket wrote:HH_pink wrote:horace wrote:both bowled dross...Harpy's doosra is less effective since made to change action...why was Harpy targeted more than MuMU to change his action???

Re: Harbhajan v Hogg
HS consistently bowled the wrong line & was too dim to change it.
Hoggy is a true wrist spinner & bowled a similar % of 4 balls to any wristy in the last 40 years, bar one.

20 wickets in 5 innings in unresponsive tracks would seem to indicate he does.

Not necessarily. It could mean he confuses the batsmen by his lethal pace-bounce variation combo coupled with the lack of any massive spin. I think I must've seen him try and spin the ball and actually succeed about 10 times through all these years.

Kumble is not the "one" I referred to. He releases his leggy from between thumb & forefinger. He doesn't rip it with his ring finger and his wrist and therefore has greater control. While I have the greatest respect for his bowling I don't regard him as a true "wristy".

Oh he spins it alright. Especially the last 5 years or so.

I'd say he's more of a 'tweaker' than a spinner.
