Holcs, rest assured, I'll drink what you should have had when you passed through here! Just wish we could have caught up.

Someone mentioned exercise, and yep, that's now to be a regular feature of the day. The exercise bike has been pulled out of the cupboard. Be rooted if I'm going for a walk around the block during summer in Wagga. It's been mild this week, but high 30s are much more common.

Yeah would've been good, although not sure your RSL would've been too happy to have been invaded by 17 beer thirsty poms, with a fines meeting to conduct....

Your not wrong there. Just walking around the boundary in Hay was bad enough. And that was high 30's when we were ther. Luckily though we had a massive thunderstorm the night before the came, which cleared the air a bit.

Zat, last year I had a Pain in my chest. The heart specialist told me after the ECG that was a 95% probabilty I had angina and he would have to insert up to 4 stents.

After he did the angioplasy he closed me up and said there was nothing wrong.

Maybe a 2nd opinion might be in order.

Soft dubber.

Hope you're back on track when you hit Perth...the Swan Valley has a few breweries and chocolate factories that need to be visited.

I gather triglycerides is all the vogue in Australia now. We don't have them here - Africa always being a bit behind - but a couple of years ago almost all my friends were put on suicide-inducing diets for high cholesterol. They were saved only by the doctors' rediscovery of gall-bladders as a nice source of income.

Seriously, though, I always thought cholesterol levels mattered more for men and triglycerides for women?

Even more seriously, seems your only dietary solution is to munch on almonds as you give yourself over to drink.

Zat wrote:Well, thanks all for the nice words.

As the levels were basically off the chart - despite a pretty good (not exceptional) diet, the doc's words were a bit of a surprise. There's no diabetes, tests for that were normal.

The diet is something I'll have to live with.

I'm also on pills to bring it down.

But let me say this, Friday night, I'm off to the pub for what will probably be a last blast for quite a while!

And one thing that amused me was that they had the courtesy on the 'bad' list to include chocolate, but also had the decency to say that f*cking awful 'health nazi' product carob on it as well.

Best of luck Zat - just remember to cast off the sackcloth once in a while Wink

Get on the fish oil tables - three times a day. And start using that cholesterol lowering margarine.

bl, I've been on the cholesterol lowering marg for about two years, and have also been on oat bran breakfast cerals for the best part of 18 months. Unfortunately genetics have beaten me so its drastic dietary measures, exercise, and pills.

The pills are 'Jezil', which sounds like something from a cheap pron movie. Can't you just imagine some busty blonde saying 'come on baby, fill me with your hot jezil...'

Jezil ...

yesterday I wanted to ask you if you were on lipitor. Or if the medication was a lipitor derivative but on quick google Jezil seems to be another devil

I take medications for blood pressure and cholesterol. My GP (he isn't exclusively mine) is trying to control my cholesterol with a couple of drugs. One is Lipitor and the other is Jezil (gemfibrozil). Jezil is to control the cholesterol usually attributed to alcohol consumption. OK, I admit to imbibing the odd drop.
