Can't say I've been counting his beamers TBH. Nine's commentators were saying, however, before "that" ball gow much his control had improved. Frankly, I don't think it's in Lee's make-up to deliberately bowl a beamer

Especially not to Tendulkar, whom I'm sure he adores.

I don't know that he adores Tendulkar. What I do know is that he milks a lot of money out of Indian sponsors / Bollywood and to leave a the perception that he beam balled Tendulkar deliberately won't do him any good with his financial interests in India.

There's been plenty of things to criticise about Bung over the years but being malicious isn't one of them.

I agree that Lee isn't a malicious bowler and seems a nice guy. I met him before he was a state cricketer when he worked at a men's tailor and found him to be a really geniuine helpful guy.
However, LLL does have a point. if you google beamer and Lee, it does show a history of Lee losing control a fair bit and a lot of commentators condeming it
And one cannot forget his

* In New Zealand, umpire warns Brett Lee to tone down his bowling, saying Lee deliberately tried to hurt a No.11 batsman, overstepping the crease by "two and a half feet" and firing in a bouncer.

Re: Manjrekar has a go at Tendulkar
This knock from Tendulkar in a final is at least a decade overdue. I can't believe it has come from the bat of someone as gifted as SRT after a good gap of 10 years since Sharjah after almost 20 finals in between. Coming as it does at a time close to one day retirement, just makes one wonder.
Well played anyways. He needed to do this a lot earlier given his ever increasing lists of failures in crunch matches. Better late than never again. Perhaps seeing Ganguly and Dravid go out the way hey did fueled withDhoni's impatience with aged senior players was the wake up call he needed. But nevertheless a welcome return.
Would be unfair to expect a Desert Storm 2 from him for the remaining finals. Someone else from the younger side needs to step up and be counted. Dhoni is too long overdue in this long Aus summer now.....
Now if only Sachin can do something about his second innings shortcomings in tests for sometime now.....His inability to bat out last day in pressure situations to help save matches [Dravid seems to have been bit by this bad bug too] is implausible given his abilities...

The timing of his beamers is a bit dodgy. He bowled 2 beamers in one ODI to Brendon McCullum in 2005, which McCullum reacted badly to, then a year later, having not bowled 1 beamer since a year previously, he bowled another one at the same batsman in front of the same Kiwi crowds that were giving him all sorts of shit again with the game in the balance. Coincidence?
Then yesterday he bowls one to a nervous Tendulkar on 98 with Australia almost down and out and desperate for something to spark them up. Up until then he had been bowling perfect yorkers, and then suddenly he misses his length by 2 metres? Hmm....
I've never seen him bowl one with Australia on top in the game.

Has he bowled any in the Australian domestic comp ?

Come on guys. Lee didn't bowl that intentionally and Sachin himself said that he was 100% sure that Lee didn't do it knowingly.
I hope Sachin's critics will keep quiet for next 2-3 matches at least! He has a groin injury and I hope that Dhoni rests him.

Not that I can remember. In the early days, he did have a reputation of picking the ball up in his follow through and hurling it at the batsman even though he was well in his crease.

Rest him when India are potentially one game away from winning the series?! No chance.

But what is the use of making him play when he is injured? He won't even get enough time to recover for the next match. So why not rest him when you know that he'd fail certainly?

Trev
You could make an equal argument that Lee loses his action under pressure which causes him to bowl beamers ...this would explain why it happens when Oz is in "trouble' ...
It's a No Ball and he risks being banned from the attack if the umpire deems it deliberate so he the chances are they are accidental ...I would like to see what happened if he was removed from bowling next time he beams one ...Punter's heads would explode

Lee bowled two in the same game against Abdul Razzaq a few years back. So it's not isolated.
I am unsure what beamers LLL is referring to, but I guess it must be against the Poms.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one. That was after Razzaq himself had beamed Lee in Australia's innings earlier in the day, so I think it's safe to say that Lee's reply was dead set deliberate.

Waqar to Symonds in the '03 WC was dead set deliberate.

If he is not fully fit he should be rested. There are good replacements let them have a go.Henry wrote:Chandan wrote:Come on guys. Lee didn't bowl that intentionally and Sachin himself said that he was 100% sure that Lee didn't do it knowingly.

That is what I'm saying. But I bet that Dhoni won't do so. It is crazy to be playing half fit. I hope Ishant is also rested so that his injured middled finger is healed before the home series vs SA starts!

Apparently he's been carrying the injury all summer. He said at the press conference that he should be fine for tomorrow.

That is what he says everytime he is carrying an injury. It made him miss a test last year. I don't want him to miss tests against SA at home. Tests are more important. After a month no one will remember these ODIs.

Who hijacked Josh's ID ?Josh Carney wrote:Masterly knock by Tendulkar. Several of us have waited a long time for this. Big stage, big match, batting second, under pressure, decent bowling and the champion does it in style. It is one of the best kinocks I have ever seen from Tendulkar. His knock at Sharjah had more glitz to it given his youth. But this had a mature class given the setting and what a time to deliver such an innings ! I wish the champion all the best for the remainder of his playing days.

no chance of him being rested, even if he cant run they will play him
its a niggle he's being carrying for a while. in a busy schedule there will hardly be any sportsman who doesnt carry a niggle
