all time boring tours
surely the tour of Australia by Sri lanka and Sookia must rank as the most boring tours of modern times...
yes there has been a few good knocks from tendy, vvs, sanga, punter, unit, gilly and roy and some decent bowling from vaas, instant kharma, violets, lee, midge but there has been few memorable days or contests...
the tri series jamodis has been as stultifying as vikras..
yes the poms were hopeless last year but they were funny in a pratfall kind of way (and of course they won the tri series)...nothing has been remotely humorous this summer or edifying this season.
have to agree with zimmi - time to go to the pub until the footy starts

04-05 (NZ and Pak) was the least memorable season I can (barely) recall. Any season in which the high point was a no 11 batsman getting a 50 can't be riveting.

Re: all time boring tours
No stunt pulled by the aussies has worked in this tour .. it should be the most boring tour indeed.
humor us .. we might let you get away with a few stunts.
But we need quality humor. None of that lame stuff that passes for humor down under.

Re: all time boring tours
87-88 was another dreadful season: three nondescript Tests between incandescently mediocre Oz and NZ teams, followed by Sidneyland's pathetically inadequate attempt to match the Melb Centenary Test, followed by a Test v SL which Australia won without opening their eyes.

Turn it up - Dizzy's "giddiup" down the pitch alone made it a great summer.

The Saffie tours tend to be pretty boring . . . except for the laughs along the way.

Horrie seems to have a very weird sense of entertainment if he find this tour as boring.
I'd say this tour has to be one of the most entertaining tours of all time, both for on field action as well as for its off field action.

Re: all time boring tours
tosh SG...i acknowledged some of the good displays by members of the the 3 teams...that said there has been an absence of close cricket...i also none of the 3 teams have played up to their billing or abilities...sure there have been sideshows aplenty but generally the cricket has been predictable and boring

Whilst it was't quite the VVS series in 2001 this time around the test series between India and Australia was close, the score line could have been easily reversed. Expect the one day finals to be close as well.

not much of it cricket related ...ie with bat and ball ...not the gob or the retired Snoozy judge or the smartarse cricket journalist (or the chartered plane)

Re: all time boring tours
I found England's tour of the WI boring. Dunno if it's cos the SA/Aus matches were going on at the same time, but I'm not particularly looking forward to the return matches. Are you?

Re: all time boring tours
I'll second you on that with the exception of the first test. The wickets they were played on couldn't have been blunter. My little brother would have managed a ton.Demelza wrote:I found England's tour of the WI boring. Re: all time boring tours
England's 1958-59 tour of Aus is legendary for its boredom (even though Aus won 4-0). It was alleged that this tour was almost the death of Test Cricket such was dreariness. The 1960-61 tour of Aus by the Windies was apparently the saviour.

rofl...has the pinnacle of lardating been reached???
Ironically we are again in the midst of a snorefest set of series against the Lankans...now tho the only excitement is in whether the Oz team avpid the abject humiliation they deserve in the tests

Re: all time boring tours
England's last tour of Aus was pretty boring. 3 innings defeats and a 517/1 in the draw. Must try harder next time, Ricky & Co.
Re: all time boring tours
c'mon gaz ...I bet you were as excited as we were in the trainwreck of the pomgolian 0-5 effort in the Oz series before
