Pawar's disclosures including what Tendulkar said
Some interesting stuff here. Particularly Sachin's comments about his generation and T-20. Now the same generation stars are the Icons and costing the team owners a fortune. But then we are talking about BCCI and the average Indian fan.

That Sachin is a hypocrite of the first order; a dumb, selfish, talentless, graceless, miserable excuse for a cricketer and a human being.

Do you want to rethink the bit about Tendulkar being talentless?

Some things won't change and Josh's tirade against Tendulkar is one of them. Probably one of world's oldest. Now the same generation stars are the Icons and costing the team owners a fortune. But then we are talking about BCCI and the average Indian fan.

Dravid and Ganguly are in that lot too. Not surprising that some repeatedly prise out just the Tendulkar angle from any cricketing point.

Dravid and Ganguly are there just to make the numbers. Primary target as always is Tendulkar.

And those things were said by Tendulkar. Only a fool would fail to see the Tendulkar angle; it's there by definition.

Get a hold of yourself man. Stop playing this under seige act if you want to be involved in some sensible debate.HH_pink wrote:And those things were said by Tendulkar. Only a fool would fail to see the Tendulkar angle; it's there by definition.
You can go read one of two of my earlier threads on IPL where I have raised big reservations on paying huge amounts on the over 30's for a the 20-20 format.
This is only reconfirming that although the one eyed fans wan't to deny a confession from their hero.

I would have thought that the likes of Tendulkar would be making team owners a fortune

Some owners have described these icons as millstones. From a popularity perspective in flogging merchanise etc. you might be right. Not sure from a playing perspective.

Reading a subi-on-subi thread is like watching chick-on-chick movies . . . quite entertaining and not a set of balls in sight . . .

I doubt Tenny is one of the millstones though and the IPL is all about the money.

Mukesh Ambani must have called Josh and expressed his unhappiness over Tendulkar being nominated an icon player for Mumbai. The One wrote:Josh Carney wrote:Some owners have described these icons as millstones. Re: Pawar's disclosures including what Tendulkar said
SG - they were pretty average...M koala ended up with a very ordinairy average at the ned of his career (promised much he did not deliver)...S Koala had mediocre talent but he harnessed it and courtesy of the most selfish cricket the world has seen (farming the strike to the tail, batting at 5 and 6)ordering others to chase the quick runs and risk their wicket) he finagled his way to an average just over 50 (boosted by many not outs)

Even after reading all that I'm pretty sure Josh's crusade against Tendulkar is far more bitter than yours.

Re: Pawar's disclosures including what Tendulkar said
Tendulkar says his generation is not fit for 20-20 and asks for youngters to be chosen ahead of them. I report that and that becomes a tirade against Tendulkar ! It is his own admission for christ's sake.

Re: Pawar's disclosures including what Tendulkar said
There is a thread on this with a press link where the owners are reported to have described the icons as millstones. I am sure it is still there if you care to look for it. Halfway through that thread the usual suspects made it my tirade forgetting that the description came from the owners. The One wrote:Josh Carney wrote:Some owners have described these icons as millstones.
