He's a bit of a tool, but I quite like his lack of fence-sitting. Might make a good selector one day...

Doesn't mince his words, does he!
Most of what he said makes a lot of sense ... "contribution to the team".
I liked that phrase ... enough said.

Can't Sky get some 'experts' that actually have some sort of credibility due to a successful international career? Mark Ramprakash, Nick Knight, Ian Ward, Dominic Cork...... It's a procession of mid to late 90's underachievement. A lot of their comments make sense, but you can't help thinking, "But they're all still better than you ever were at the top level."

Bit harsh on Cork - 112 wickets @29

Ok it isn't Curtley Ambrose stuff but is respectable...

Yeah, Cork was a world class bowler from 1995 to 1997. But then he lost his ability to really swing the ball and from then on he (barely) got by with bluff and niggle and feistiness.

Whats that got to do with anything.

What he says makes sense. He's better than most we've had recently?

Indeed. With that sort of attitude Trev would have nobody ever being allowed to comment on Hayden.

You don't need to have been better than them, or even have any talent at all at the sport in question, to be qualified to criticise sportsmen... you just have to be able to spot what they're doing wrong and to think you can pick a better team than the coach/manager/selectors!

Obviously those who have played at the highest level can see it from a different viewpoint to the rest of us, but it doesn't mean they are the only ones whose criticisms are valid.

Agreed - bit like piking if they had Alex Ferguson remarking on an international footy match.

As a player he hardly tore trees up, so how can he criticise others Smile ?

Possibly the most sensible comments to come out of Derbyshire for some years.

Lardy - Corky's been playing for Lancs for the last 4 years - he had quite a falling out with the Derbyshire management.

Corky is pretty astute when he's not mouthing off. As for Trev's comments, Cork was a fine bowler for a while and hasn't ever not performed in CC. He's got a 'right' to comment, though he needs none... punditry isn't about what you did in your own career. If it was, someone like Mark Waugh or Ian Botham would be worth their salt.

At the end of the day, Corky is saying openly what others are now thinking.

There is no God given right to the captaincy unless a consistent performance is achieved - whether with bat or ball or indeed, with the art of captaincy itself.

To be fair to MPV, the best attack we've faced since the Ashes has been the Indian one in England and he actually scored some runs. He got some decent balls in NZ on a whole and was unfortunate at least twice to get out in SL. Therefore, with the abject shit that all of our top 6 have come up with since WI, then I'm not sure he deserves the trouncing he gets. Easily our second best batsman behind KP.

Perhaps Danny, and I'd be inclined to agree with you to be honest.

However, if he is going to stand by the, my batters all average 40, and allow them to continue to sprout such garbage, then he himself must follow the same statistical relevance, and as such, he averaged 20 in NZ!

Unfortunately I dont believe you can have it both ways!?

No. Firstly he should stop splurging out twat rhetoric. It's actually discrediting him. But as for 'F*ck him off, he hasn't done much for 5 Tests' - I'm not up for it. Just not up for it. As I mentioned previously, when the bowling is good or the conditions aren't favourable he's much, much more likely to score runs than Bell, Cook or Strauss. I'd rather him getting good balls or getting out in a ridiculously unlucky way against relative dross than some midget twat throwing his wicket away in an 'I've got Malteaser balls' shocker, who's place is never questioned - it would frankly be a travesty.
