Pakistan vs Australia in England?
ECB offers to host Pakistan-Australia Test series
By Mohammad Yaqoob
LAHORE, March 26: The England and Wales Cricket Board has offered the PCB to play its recently postponed home series against Australia in England sometime in July. Though the PCB has already ruled out the chances of holding the series at any neutral venue, board’s chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf informed the members of the Governing Board about the offer.
The members have asked the PCB chairman to wait till he received a written offer from the ECB which is expected anytime now.
It is learnt the ECB had verbally offered $10 million to PCB for each Test match.
According to the offer, two of the three Test matches will be played inside London and one in another city.
In accepting the offer from ECB, the PCB will have to take a u-turn on its early policies of refusing the proposal of Cricket Australia (CA) of holding the series at any neutral venue. However, it will help the board to recover huge losses incurred due to the late withdrawal of Ricky Ponting’s men from the March-April tour over security reasons.

Probably a non-starter anyway but how would a 3 test Aus/Pak series not clash with Eng/SA?

Re: Pakistan vs Australia in England?
You could have The Oval Test at the beginning of the month, separating it from the England - SA Oval Test by a month. Schedule for say, July 3rd to July 7th.
Play the next at Old Trafford or Trent Bridge running alongside the first Eng - SA Test.
Then play the last at Lord's from the 24th to the 28th.
Only one Test would clash, and none of the grounds would be endangered. You'd have to consider the counties, of course, but I'm sure they can be ****** off if need be.

Haha! I suggested this a couple of weeks ago. Good idea, imo. What with Britain's massive Pakistani expat population, the games should be well attended.

The support could be quite uneven. Will any Aussie ex-pats be able to get some time off from working in London pubs?

What will happen then? No one will be able to pour drinks and it will lead to a chain reaction that causes London's economy to come to a grinding halt. Good times....

Why? The Bangladeshi's love cricket already. It's just that their national team is complete crap. I'm not sure what two teams that are better than their own playing each other in Bangladesh will do for cricket there.

If the pubs close early at least the patrons can catch a mini-cab to the local curry house... oh wait a minute.

Great idea. Augustus, where's the quote from?
Steve Bucknor's fine, he stood in the '92 CWC final when Paksters beat England. No problem with Hair standing in any Pak vs Aus Test, will give a chance to gauge whether that rehabilitation exercise could improve others. Doubt if ICC will have the courage to appoint Hair.

It would make more sense for Sri Lanka/Bangladesh to hold the series. If it's held in England it would diminish the point of a difficult sub-continental series where the heat and the noise play massive parts, along with dust-track conditions.

I'm not sure the ECB really want to give the Australians test match practice in English conditions just a year before the next ashes series.

There would be enough noise in England, and Pakistan have a pretty good record there as well.
