England to host Pakistan v Australia next year - confirmed.
So Pakistan will play 6 tests,5 ODI's & 4 T20's here next summer. 4 tests v England & 2 v Aus
http://www.ecb.co.uk/ecb/about-ecb/media-releases/england-to-host-pakistan-v-australia-in-2010,306284,EN.html
Also means Aus play 2 tests, 5 ODI's & 2 T20's here next year. I presume these games will not take place at the same time as Englands tests?

The ECB today announced that it had reached agreement with the PCB to stage two Test matches and two
Twenty20 internationals between Pakistan and Australia in England next July.ECB chairman Giles Clarke said: "The Pakistan team
performed outstandingly well in the World T20 tournament in England and were worthy world champions. “The passion of the support for
their team in England demonstrated why this country is an ideal venue for these matches against Australia.
"The warm relations between our two boards has developed further under the leadership of the current PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt, with whom I enjoy an
excellent working relationship, and ECB is delighted to support Pakistan in staging these matches."ECB and PCB also confirmed
that England will host Pakistan for four Test matches, five one-day internationals and two T20 internationals in August and September of
next year.
The ECB also announced Clarke has accepted the role of chairman of the ICC Pakistan task team. This body, set up by the
ICC, has been charged with providing strategies and solutions to assist the Pakistan Cricket Board in protecting its position in international
cricket.Clarke added: "The Pakistan Cricket Board is faced with a very challenging situation at present and ECB in its role as a member
of the global cricket community is keen to offer PCB all possible assistance at such a difficult time. “I am delighted to take on this role and will be liaising closely with my colleagues at PCB in the coming weeks and months."
Also means Aus play 2 tests, 5 ODI's & 2 T20's here next year. I presume these games will not take place at the same time as Englands tests?

This is good news for Pakistan Cricket.
Any word on ticket prices? Venues?
Will there be a better atmos at these games than actual England matches?

Old Trafford and Headingley would be obvious choices for the Pakistan tests.

I'd nominate Edgbaston for one of the tests.

So the 4th neutral test match played on English soil will be nearly 98 years after the 3rd.

With plenty of "home" support from the English Pakster dole recipients, should be good crowds guaranteed.

Neither would I. Wonder if Aus networks (pay TV or otherwise) will cover it?

I wonder if there are any people still living with clear memories of those games in 1912. I suppose they would have to be at least 105, so probably not.

WTF? Of course it'll be shown. When was the last time a Test involving Australia wasn't telecast in this country? The 1990s?skully wrote:Neither would I. Wonder if Aus networks (pay TV or otherwise) will cover it?

I hope the pitches are QUICK!
Mitch Johnson @150KPH vs some of our FTBs like Malik, Misbah, A Razzaq and Butt(Faisal Iqbal isn't even an FTB) will be quite a good sight- who can forget what Steve Harmison did to them at Old Trafford.
Hope Aamer does even BETTER than Johnson.

So Eng v Pak first? That'll give Pakistan some nice warm-up matches against county hacks before the serious stuff starts.

No Zat - Pak v Aus in july first, then Eng v Pak in August / September
We presumably have an early summer series but I can't just recall who the oppo will be right now.

Was supposed to be WI wasn't it, but they 'turned up' this year instead

July will do nicely.
Although why has Test cricket moved to later dates in England? Used to be that Wimbledon would clash with the Ashes and drive Channel Nein batty.

Test cricket hasn't moved to later dates in England. It's just that in the past during an ashes year, Australia would be the only touring team for the whole summer, and they'd start of with a few ODI's before the first test kicked off at Edgbaston in mid June. This time around, we had the Windies touring in early May, followed by the T20 world cup before the ashes.
