Simon Jones back for Worcs tomorrow
http://www.ecb.co.uk/domestic/lv-county-championship/jones-returns-for-worcs,17212,EN.html
Injury was similar to whiplash apparently. Just wish the lad could stay on the field for a decent run of cricket.

Apparently so.
So far this season Bell, Strauss (in proper cricket on a proper sized ground) and Vaughan have scored naff all, not seen Colly even make an appearance yet, whilst:
Shah, Bopara, Prior even and Key have all scored a fair amount!!
So that'll = no change!

There's nothing wrong with Prior's batting. He wasn't dropped due to question marks over his batting.
As soon as he can prove he can catch (if indeed he can), he'll be back in the England set-up.
Alec Stewart's on board as his personal coach and mentor now, and he was able to turn himself into a competent keeper from slightly wobbly beginnings, so there's still hope for Matt Sussex.
Re: County season 2008
Or Prior could give up the gloves altogether (Something he was apparently pondering before the start of the season) and concentrate solely on his batting.

He appeared to give up on keeping at some point on the Sri lanka tour!

No chance of making an international career for himself as a specialist batsman - he's not that good.
As a keeper, he's right in the mix for a place in the side.
As a batsman, he's not even in the next ten cabs on the rank.

Alec Stewart not only touted Matt Prior about 6 years ago, he's been coaching him since around that time... so to conclude, Stewart coaching Prior = the iron-gloved man we saw in SL.
Re: County season 2008
Prior will never be a great gloveman, but he definetly has the ability to become, say, Boucher standard. He's pretty athletic, which is a plus. The fact that he carried on like a pork chop with the verbals didn't exactly endear himself to a lot of people- I didn't think his motormouth was as bad as the media made it out to be. The negative press against him last summer was some of the most intense i've ever seen towards an English player.

Agreed - as I've mentioned loads, the Porsche story was bollocks. But again, as I've said already, if he's been keeping and been coached for 6 years and his iron-glovedness hasn't improved, when do you stop waiting for him to?
Re: County season 2008
Foster completely showed him up for the iron-gloved monster he is in the Essex/Sussex game apparently.
As has been said, his batting wasn't really the problem at test level

Aye, was just checking the teams out, not there. Sham?
Re: County season 2008
Neck injuries are funny things though. If it's not right theres no way he can bowl.
I should probably give up on Jonah but I have this dream of him wrecking the Aussies at Cardiff in 2009

Well, same as. I'm very much in the Jonah camp, but the way he gets different injuries doesn't bode well for his being involved in an entire series.
I see Wakely went cheap again. He's not an opener, he's a number 4-5. Rob White's an opener and has been coming in 2 overs into the game anyway. Wonder what the sensible idea is...

Yorks/Notts underway - looks like a quality match with some decent players on either side

Vaughan is at the wicket*
