Ravi Bopara turned down a six figure offer from the IPL

How long can their loyalty last before they give in to the temptation of the $$$$$?
I'm sure the likes of Pietersen and Flintoff have already been offered in excess of seven figures.

Not long. They will all join eventually. Pietersen pretty soon I would imagine.

The obvious solution would be to create an open window of say 5 weeks, free of all international cricket around March/April.
But this is the ICC we are talking about.

Good on Bops. He's in line for Vaughan's place in the summer. He'll do well on the English pitches too. Best young batsman in the country, and it's good that he's hanging on in hope. However, the ECB's going to have to do something if it wants to keep these young players around. Bopara won't be able to resist an offer come the end of the summer if he hasn't got a central contract...

Why? He mightn't have a 40+ average (though he probably does after his start to the season), but he has ability and balls and that's something you can't say for many other Englishmen. One poor tour of Sri Lanka (where he was thrown in at the deep end) doesn't change that. Given the chance for England, he'll be an excellent batsman and a handy golden-arm dobber.

Was the "six figure offer" $000,012?

WTF happened to Owais Shah? Even the Eng fans here seem to have forgotten him.

Not by the true England fans on here ...
Let's mention him / the cause one more time....
Owais Shah for England.
PS> After immediately dumping Lord Vaughan, OBE and/or Sir Bellhop, OBE first.

How long they can hold off the temptation Post 102 (Page 7) in the "IPL- Another interesting article thread" may have the answer.

Sajid Mahmood says that he also received offers from two franchises. I guess most of England's fringe players (Shah, Bopara, Mahmood, Wright etc) would have received offers.

Saj didn't say it was a six figure sum though so the offer could have been $25,000 like Thornley. He's probably waiting for $750,000 while letting the England selectors know that he is much sought after and only available for a limited time so they better get their skates on.

Apparently Bopara not being named as possible Test starter against England.
