Your favourite innings(s)
While it's raining at Lords, let's have some mention, and maybe some clips, of innings that have made their mark on you.
This double one from Flintoff at Edgbaton, 2005 has to be amongst my favourites..........

Sobers, 250 odd for the ROW team v Aus in Melbourne in early 1972.
Lara's 250 odd v Aus in Sydney around 20 years later.
Roy Fredericks v Aus in Perth in late 1975.
Any of about 6 knocks played by AB against the great Windies quicks.

Re: Your favourite innings(s)
Steve Waugh's ton against England in 2002/3 and his double ton v Windies to win the Frankie.
Gilly's 57 ball ton v England and his ton v India in 2001.
Ditto Mick's comment on AB although I'd add a couple of tons against the Kiwis and the Poms as well.
As for opponents - not sure these are "favourite" innings but they are greatly admired:
Lara's 153*
Sehwag's ton in Adelaide
Quite a few Gower innings in 1985.
Ijaz Ahmed's ton in Sydney in 1995/6
Azzhurudhin's ton in Adelaide
SRT's ton in Sydney on Warne's debut
Aravinda's ton against us in about 88-89 - might have been in Hobart
I would add that I never saw any of Lara's 277 or VVSs 281 as I was travelling for both.
And as a neutral:
Astle's double against the Poms
Gilly's 57 ball ton v England and his ton v India in 2001.

Neutral my arse. There was a Kleenex shortage in Australia after that innings.

Re: Your favourite innings(s)
Vaughany's ton against India last year was pretty special. His usual beautiful strokeplay in seriously tough conditions. Would have gone on but for an outrageous bit of misfortune.
Trescothick's 90 vs Aus at Edgbaston was a series turning moment.
Any of Straussy's knocks in South Africa.
Too many Lara innings' to name.

Laura, the kleenex would have been for the tears shed at Astle breaking Gilly's record for the fastest double ton . . . farkin shithouse poms . . .

Re: Your favourite innings(s)
As an unabashed SRW fan, I'd have to say his last ball ton v Eng at SCG in 02/03. Under the pump after a poor series, he looked the goods from ball one. Then the theatre and tension as he built to the last ball of the day. Nein was already 40 minutes late for the evening news when he snotted Richard Dawson through point for a ton-raising boundary.
I would've loved to have been there. There was enough electricity in my lounge room to run a small town. Can't imagine what the atmosphere was like at the SCG. I bet they were still buzzing hours later in the pubs surrounding the ground.

by opponents in Australia:
Sobers and Fredericks (already mentioned), Randall (Centenary Test 1977); Asif Iqbal with the Pakistani tail, hitting 3's towards the end of each over at will; Lara 277; Laxman's 160 odd in Sydney; memorable match-saving innings by Rudolph, Kirsten, and Greatbatch.
by Australians in Australia:
several innings already mentioned, McGrath 61, Hughes cavalier century v the West Indies (out of a team total of under 200), Dougie Walters 123 or so v the ROW in 1971-72, Dougie again v England in Perth in 1974-5, Wayne Phillips' debut century, Greg Matthews excellent century in Brisbane v England in 1990-91, Warnie's 99 (sob).

Agreed - a wonderful innings, probably the best I have seen (at least in part) played against Australia, overseas.

Re: Your favourite innings(s)
Dean Jones made a third ball duck against Richard Hadlee at Adelaide in 1987 ...
Jones had made a statement before the Test to the effect that Hadlee was past it and Jones had his measure ...
First ball was a leg cutter that beat Jones and made him look silly ...second ball was an off cutter that took an inside edge before it hit his pad ...
Third ball was an in the slot half volley that swung away late just far enough to give Ian Smith an easy catch ...
