I don't think Koertzen is really deserving of a place, or a vote, in this poll, when Asoka de Silva has just been re-appointed to the Elite Panel. That guy is probably the worst of the lot. Jerling seems a bit crap to me too.
He didn't umpire the Oval Test?

For his self righteous high handed approach Hair deserves a nomination.

Obviously not many of our subi friends have been watching the current Aus Test in the WIndies. Especially today's play. Tiffen has plumbed new depths. At least this time around he didn't gift wickets to Magoo.

Turn it up - if no decisions went against India how could any of them be bad?
Appropriate that it would be Bung to get a Michelle with only one of them actually being out

Jerling and Mark Benson have been the worst two I've seen in the last twelve months. Also, as good as Taufel is, imho the 'to-do' following the mistakes he made last summer during the England/India series seems to have affected his confidence somewhat and he doesn't appear to be as good an umpire as he once was.

I dunno about that. He's still as good as he ever was. Reffering that Vettori run-out was inspired.

Bucknor was a great umpire at one time. Sad he's carried on too long.

He was planning to retire but was asked to stay on as the ICC were short of umpires after Hair was dumped. So blame it all on the farkin subis for having a major sookfest after the Oval . . .

Bucknor should have got out of the game years ago. He was past his best in 2003, let alone 2008.

Fixed.
They really are the only 2 top class umpires going around at the moment.
Agree to a great extent.
But IMO Taufel didn't have a good OT test ... and giving repetitive LBW's against right hand batsmen
on the front foot to a left arm spinner round the wicket is not "brave" as some were calling it -
but definitely dodgy in my book.
Seems his study of Hawkeye video footage has brought some influence to bear on his decisions.
A worrying trend, IMO.

I wanted to vote for Tiffin, but for some reason he didn't even make the list.

Good point - I'm thinking of Billy Doctrove. Proves I'm a racialist, I suppose. Doctrove's a man who definitely ought to be on the list.

No he isn't. There's some joker there called Russell Tiffen - of whom I've never heard until now - but the worst umpire I've ever seen isn't on the list.

**sighs** Have a guess merlin - it's Russell. Unforch for the author he's put his last name as 'Tiffen' rather than 'Tiffin' and incurred taily's pedancy.

Aye Fink, I was aware but I just wanted to draw our taily out onto her pedant trek!

Yeah, as usual, when tailender the 'Oxford dictionary' gets a chance to be all condescending she grabs it with both hands. I can't edit the poll questions, so get over it ya bitter old housewife.

Tiffin/Tiffen - phonetically pretty much the same, especially for someone with poor diction.... worth a mention, nyet.
