The Champions Trophy
Have all the teams agreed to play in it? Do Aus consider Pakistan to be safe enough now? Does anyone really give a f*ck?

Re: The Champions Trophy
So yet another farce on the horizon that the ICC is too short sighted to see and do something about in advance. Right....

Yep heading that way. For a while things had quietened down in pakistan (in Feb / March / April). But trouble seems to be brewing again particularly with the recent Danish Embassy bombing. I would be very surprised if the Aussies will be willing to travel. So a farce is on the cards.

Re: The Champions Trophy
I'd imagine England, South Africa, and New Zealand would be reluctant to go as well.
It's a shame- Personally I think they should go if they can be guaranteed the top level of security.

Re: The Champions Trophy
That is the problem for e.g. the Danish embassy was also supposed to be in the most secure enclave.

Surely only Hayden would be stupid enough to stick his big ugly head out of the sunroof of a bullet proof SUV?

No. So it will be rather enjoyable to witness another ICC farce play out before us, imo.

Re: The Champions Trophy
Actually the shorter Champs trophy is more enjoyable than the type of protracted circus that was the last WC held in the WI.

It's funny how you've fallen back in love with the 50 over game since the IPL took off.

Re: The Champions Trophy
Ah, the group of death has an exciting affair with India, Pak and Aus with WI in Group A. India looks so doomed since it doesn't have too flattering one day records against either of it's opponents. Lanka probably has the easiets group with SA to deal with.
India have been grouped with world champion Australia and arch-rival Pakistan in Group A, also featuring the West Indies, for the 2008 Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan in September.
Group B consists of South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and England in the eight-nation tournament, an International Cricket Council release said.
Three Pakistani cities -- Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi -- will host the elite one-day event.
Two top sides from each group will compete in the semi-final stage, which will be held in Karachi and Rawalpindi.
The final will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The official launch ceremony of the tournament will take place in Lahore on June 18.

Re: The Champions Trophy
Wonder if sides will send full strength teams now that this competition is probably doomed in the long term?
