Most consecutive series wins
One more needed for the record; not bad for a team in decline.

Re: Most consecutive series wins
Among England's wins were series against the 1888/89 South Africans & the 1891/92 South Africans. It's a joke that they are recognised as official tests.

Re: Most consecutive series wins
Does this run include drawn series (as in, not in the count, but allowed during the run)?

No way. That is a completely different record.

Cheers PJ.
Then the run should've ended after last winter's Border-Gavaskar series. What we had there was effectively 1-1.

The next one's against us, right? This will be fun, we stopped them twice in their consequtive test wins thingy, time to stop them in the consequtive series wins too.

Re: Most consecutive series wins
Australia has lost just 1 test (out of 26 tests) in this run of 9 series wins on the trot. Amazing record.

Possibly the toughest of all asks - to win in India to create a record.

Re: Most consecutive series wins
I think despite them being currently not as strong as they were prior to McWarne's retirement, IMO Aussies would still start as favorites for this series. One of the key reason for that is that quite a few of the players in the squad has tasted victory in India before.

India will be producing dustbowls right the way through the series with Aus. No need to worry about Warne using the conditions this time....

Well, they wouldn't worry about Warne bowling on a dustbowl in India, but they'd worry about Mcgrath bowling on a greentop. Remember Nagpur 2004?

True, though Clark is very good replacement of McGrath. The One wrote:SG wrote:I think despite them being currently not as strong as they were prior to McWarne's retirement, IMO Aussies would still start as favorites for this series. Re: Most consecutive series wins
Australia in 2004 in India (Apart from Mumbai) compared to likely team for 2008 series in october with imo the superior player in brackets-
1. Langer- Jaques (Langer)
2. Hayden
3. Katich-Ponting (equal considering Ponting's woefulness in India..but he's still the classier player all round, obviously)
4. M.Hussey-Martyn (Equal. Martyn was immense in the Sub Continent)
5. Lehmann-Clarke (Clarke just.)
6. Clarke-Symonds (Clarke)
7. Gilchrist-Haddin (Gilchrist, daylight.....then Haddin)
8. Warne-Casson (Warne, daylight,twilight, dawn....then Casson)
9.Gillespie-Lee (Equal, based on Gillespie's 2004 form and Lee's current form)
10.Kasprowicz-Johnson (Kasprowicz)
11.Mcgrath-Clark (Mcgrath)
Obviously the 2004 side was stronger mainly due to the bowling, although maybe made more so by the fact that Ricky 'average of 15 in India' Ponting didn't play the first 3 tests in 2004.
