If the racial divide in world cricket is anything like the racial divide on this forum, then cricket is at the crossroads.

How convenient!!I'd assume England realised they didn't have the numbers to block it, so decided to give it their support in the interests of not causing a massive stink.
If you don't have evidence, then just assume things.

Perhaps I'm assuming too much, but I think it's a pretty fair assumption.
England has been pretty good at staying away from the "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" culture of ICC politics.
I think we can safely assume they've done a deal over the Zimbo situation.

Whichever way you look at it. The whole ICC have well and truley made a very bad precedent here for the future.
If you don't like it, you can walk off the pitch, not come back on, make a big stink, and get a draw a year later.
Not good at all. You can have a draw for bringing the whole game into disrepute!!
Absolutley shocking!!

I wonder if India will try and get the Sydney test result overturned? Bucknor was stood down, after all.

What's even more convenient is using quotes out of context.
My next line read:
"Perhaps I'm assuming too much, but I think it's a pretty fair assumption."
I then made another assumption - that England might have been supporting Pakistan on this because there was something in it for them.
Those two assumptions contradict each other somewhat, but I decided to place more weight on the former because of England's record on similar matters in the past.
I wasn't at the ICC meeting, so I don't know exactly what went on. But I didn't come down in the last shower, and can use my nose to work out what smells and what doesn't.

I think JKL has probably got it right. England agreed to it in return for Zimbabwe being disinvited by the ICC to the T20 tournament in England next year without having to actually ban Zimbabwe from the ICC.

Yep, all evils must be coming from India.

England has been pretty good at staying away from the "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" culture of ICC politics.
Maybe they've succumbed to that failing this time, but I'd say it's more a case of "if you can't beat 'em join 'em".
As an Aussie I can certainly say that the ECB has displayed much more moral fibre than Cricket Australia over the past few years.
Cheers.
thats hilarious. another word for describing your views for similar actions by cricket boards would be 'prejudiced'

Re: Your mother was wrong. Sulking WILL get you what you want.
1. Did this go to the vote of all the boards? Why should it, doesn't really concern the other 8 boards, only PCB, ECB and the ICC, so I'm not sure ECB 'went with it because they were in a minority'.
2. The ECB agreeing with the PCB has been known (or there were rumours anyways) for quite some time now, so the more recent Zim situation shouldn't come into the equation.
3. Get over yourselves, and all the 'woe is us' posts are a bit tiresome.
4. Ban Pakistan.
5. Ban England.

'Get over yourselves?'
Hmmm.
Just because the ECB agrees to it doesn't mean we agree with them. We don't have to toe the party line like The One does do we?

Picked it like a dirty nose. Yet another sad day for international cricket.
Zimbabwe keep ICC full membership
From correspondents in Dubai, United Arab Emirates
July 04, 2008
STRIFE-TORN Zimbabwe will remain a full member of the International Cricket Council after the deeply divided world body worked out a last-minute compromise. The ICC Executive Board, meeting for an unscheduled third day, agreed to keep Zimbabwe in its fold after the African nation acceded to India's request to pull out of next year's World Twenty20 championships in England.
The British government had made it clear it would not issue visas to Zimbabwean cricketers which could have forced the ICC to move the lucrative tournament out of England.
Zimbabwe Cricket Union president Peter Chingoka said his country had voluntarily pulled out of the event.
"Zimbabwe has agreed not to participate in the Twenty20 world championships in the wider interest of cricket," Chingoka said.
"But we will continue to be a full member of the ICC and welcome any team that wants to play against us.
"We voluntarily agreed to back out of the Twenty20 worlds because we were told we won't get visas to England. We don't want to gate crash where we are not welcome."
The cricket boards of South Africa and England last week suspended bilateral ties with Zimbabwe in protest at the deteriorating political situation in the country, where President Robert Mugabe was controversially re-elected.
While England and South Africa wanted Zimbabwe to be suspended from the ICC, the Asian bloc -- led by the game's commercial powerhouse India - opposed the move.
India convinced Zimbabwe to reach a compromise at a late-night meeting, an Indian board official said.

It's possible Chingoka's being practical JKL, it's possible that everyone capable of playing cricket in Zimbabwe will be dead or maimed to the point of disability by the time the event's on.
But well done for picking it.
Now about tomorrow's races...
