Where do you see Pakistan cricket in the next 5 years?
Where do you see Pakistan cricket in the next 5 years?
A lot problems these days with
Drug cases
ICL taking almost all the fringe players plus A Razzaq.
Fast bowlers are unable to play and stay injured 8 months/year.
Poor captain who isn't even good enough to make the test team.
No test matches for 14 months.(Dec 2007 to JAN 2009)*
Hardly any quality cricket at home.*
Poor performances in both forms of the game in the last 2 years.
Lack of the exceptional that was the case in the late 80s and 90s.
Gutless and incompetent board where even the GM of domestic cricket doesn't know the format of domestic cricket(not exaggerating).
Players being banned from merely festival games with ICL players
.......and so on.
*part of it has been caused by a political crises in the country

I think they will have an average team(ranked 5 or 6). A fast bowler or 2 will inevitably come up but the consistency (of winning or losing) will not be there.

Current situation.
Lawsonlessness will NOT help if we don't fix the lawlessness. I personally don't think there is much Henry can do about the current side.

I was looking forward to see how the under 19 bowlers from the 06 world cup will do but unfortunately Anwar Ali has been able to keep himself fit. That is why i think these bowlers(and batsmen) should be brought in to the squad ASAP because in domestic cricket they get fat and injured just look how out of shape N Jamsheed is and if they don't keep him in the squad then he will wasted for good.

It's already close at WI level of 00. Can actually lie between WI and Bangars level in sometime. May just beat Bangars and WI at most in some time and no one else.
That said you guys will keep matching India in JAMODI just coz political pressure back home ensures you do.

Re: Where do you see Pakistan cricket in the next 5 years?
Pakistan will always be able to produce a group of players with the talent to compete against the best, imo. The bowling looks a bit thin at the moment, but I think that might be due to flawed selection policy (Going with line and length specialists) rather than a shortage of talent.
Find a few raw youngsters with pace, and let them lose, whilst their impetuous but gifted young batsmen can take turns to give them something to bowl at. It's the Pakistani way.

Well, I don't see them playing International cricket in Pakistan anytime soon. Sharjah, perhaps? Joining the ICC in Dubai?

Well Pakistan will always have the talent. But they need to sort out the admin and management side of the game.

Your dig would have been funny except that there is no funny side to it. It just reflects how biased politcians and media have got in our country to keep their selfish vested interests served.
So I take it that you also believe that 'Secularism' is all about talking about Muslims and championing the so called 'Minorities' and 'Communalism' is all about Hindus and Hinduism? So when some one says Hindus are against Nuclear deal it becomes Communal and should be admonished and if someone says 'Muslims' are against the deal it should be treated in terms of 'Secularism', 'Social Justice', 'Minority Rights' and should immediately be looked into? Ever think that Secularism is about society as a whole and for treating everyone equally without appeasing or promoting one over other discriminately?

Pakistan will rise to prestige again. I don't know exactly how they will do it, but it's just what you would expect from the most unpredictable nation on earth.

well if asif and shoaib hadnt been idiots, pakistan would have an attack on par with SA and AUS right now.
i dont think they'll reach the height of the early-mid 90s but they'll be a decent team.

Their election campaigns' pivotal issue is invariably always hindutva. In every speech they have to bring up how wronged the hindu community is, and being born in a hindu 'parivar', I know that's just plain and simple tactics to polarise the voters. Though I think the Congress are not much better. If only the Left were a bit more progressive, I'd have some desire to vote....
