Where do you see Pakistan cricket in the next 5 years?
Re: Where do you see Pakistan cricket in the next 5 years?
Not you Faisal, but the other Pak fans that I've come across. Surpringly, very few have been as sensible as you. And they seem to carry a misplaced notion like BCCI being responsible for Pak's recent downfall.
Anyway, most of us know that it is a misplaced notion. Meanwhile, did you read my articles "Indian cricket: The way forward"? I'm sure Pak fans and also think and write such stuff and they can even get in touch with Pak administration since PCB has an official site.
You can try after you come back.

BCCI is damaging cricket in general and thats happening every where and NOT just in Pakistan.
Other countries like ENG and WI have taken a stand while NZ and PAK have failed to do so yes the main culprits are the PCB(and NZCB) for allowing themselves to be bullied. PCB have also made numerous other poor decisions which don't have any thing to do with the BCCI.
As far as PCB leadership is concerned i have zero hope because the new chairman is once again being "selected" based on his friendship with the top political leaders( he is another medical doctor).

Big "test" coming up against Lanka

I'm not going to vote: I've no idea where they are NOW much less where they will be in five years.

That said you guys will keep matching India in JAMODI just coz political pressure back home ensures you do.
I still stick to this view point. Even if Lanka gets beaten in tests, I don't see much improvement unless regular cricket resumes. Else Pak will slip down to bottom of table team and stay there for a long time.

Amazing performance from captain Kaneria today...

IMO currently PAK is # 4 in ODIs and perhaps joint 5th in tests(will improve if they get more games at home)

Re: Where do you see Pakistan cricket in the next 5 years?
lets see if they can get a test series or 2 in the next few years.
I reckon the upcoming test series against Lanka is one of the most important series in the recent history of PAK cricket.
One can argue that the 1st test match against Lanka is perhaps the most important since Madras 99.

Why is Madras 99 important in Pak cricket history?

Re: Where do you see Pakistan cricket in the next 5 years?
Pakistan has more important matters to worry about than cricket.
Re: Where do you see Pakistan cricket in the next 5 years?
because no one had beaten IND in a series in IND since 1987(PAK themselves) and this was the 1st time PAK were playing IND for about 10 years plus the game in itself was arguably the greatest test match of the last 20 overs. I would rank it # 2 after the WI AUS game at Barbados 99Chandan wrote:PlanetPakistan wrote:lets see if they can get a test series or 2 in the next few years.

p.s even though PAK won 2 out of the 3 test matches in IND in 1999 it wasn't a "series" win because the last game was part of the Asian test championship

oh and PAK under the new captain(as will be the case this time around) had a lot to prove after losing a test match to ZIM at home

But this time the occasion is much much bigger!
Pak cricket was not as match starved back then, it had a quality team then compared to what it has now and Pakistan was not as ignored then as it is now.
Pakistan has to overcome all these obstacles now and Madras 99 pales in comparision to the importance of this series for Pakistan which it'll be playing after almost one and a half years at home.

absouletely.
Its not just about team's performance its about showing the world that PAK is still a safe country for sports(other sports have been badly affected too)
....and don't forget PAK(along with IND and SL) are suppose to host the 2011 WC

Seems like some one has dropped an atom bomb on Pakistan cricket
The 3/3 attacks and the match(spot) fixing scandal has done (tremendous)^5 harm to PAK cricket.
