Who would your choice be as the next England captain?

In 2003 Nassers reign came to a rapid end at the hands of the Saffers & this current series could easily see Vaughan toppled.

Who would you choose and why?

I would choose Pattinson cos I could really do with a laugh.
From that list, I don't think there's anyone suitable.
Maybe KP because of his enthusiasm, but he didn't do much for us last tme.
Maybe Strauss.

Stuart Law?

Michael Vaughan.

Assuming England cricket is now officially in crisis we need a mad as f*ck firefighter like Nasser Hussain. I can't for the life of me think who that might adopt that role from the current bunch. Maybe England need an outsider to come in and shake things up.

I'm thinking Usman Afzaal.

Douglas Jardine.

At least Merlian would finally shut up.

Dale Benkenstein's doing a good job at Durham.

KP's the obvious choice.

And probably Vaughan does need to go now. There's the same staleness in England now that had set in the Indian team in 05.

Dave Sales.

He's actually quite a good skipper.

Bring him in.

The likes of Stuart Broad and James Anderson would be at the very least a bit better fed.

Strauss, by a mile. Has shown his capabilities already and is the nearest like-for-like successor to Vaughan; an articulate, imaginative captain who displayed an ability to involve all of his players, whilst getting the best out of a few enigmas (Monty was at his best under Strauss).

Yep, he was damned imaginative when he was afforded to by his better bowlers - all number of fielding positions now are being used to certain batsmen.
