Should Sales be captain of England by now?
After all, Dan was a prophet about Swann, - even when he was a voice crying out in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Chin.
And right both about Monty needing to be given a whirl, and that he was rottened by OD cricket and had to go.
So maybe England woudl have won three successive Ashes if we had listened to the Man in the Lion's Den of Stickleback Country. ...

Peter, I'm sure you and the guys at Mensa are having a real good giggle at the rest of us feeble minions, but please, you must update us when the latest "IN" joke comes around.

Re: Should Sales be captain of England by now?
He would've done no worse than Ian Bell and his pencil-cock. It didn't rest well with me that people were constantly claiming bias. It wasn't. I didn't go around shouting the claims of every player we had. Furthermore, what was my gain from him playing? Facts, we had the three best spinners in the country... this has been proven. And we have one of the most talented attacking batsmen in the game today. I don't need the hindsight vindication on here. Wisden named David Sales in the All-Time County XI not to have been given a chance at international level. Certainly beats the shit out of the lazy 'fat' comments.
Re: Should Sales be captain of England by now?
Oh and Swanny places him in the top three most talented players he's played with the others being KP and Flints.
Re: Should Sales be captain of England by now?
I think you might be right. Though I was probably overegging the ol pudding with the three Ashes wins. Sales was and is a team player too - plays for the team, not red ink or self-vindication - and not a bad leader (esp given the unoutstanding material he had available to work with.)
Smerky:
Man in the Lion's Den - Daniel Bible-thumping has died out in Wales, sadly.
Sticklebacks = friendly abuse = Steelbacks (Northants)
Not hard. Not Mensa. Not even cathedra. More solum.

Given the shambles that is our ODI team, especially the upper order, a man who averaged over 40 at a S/R of 85+ for the last five years could've done no harm in playing a few games. But it's not to be. He's 31 now. He's one of the top T20 scorers ever and hasn't been 'worth a berth' in the preliminary squads of 30 Our gain I suppose.

Heh. At least you acknowledged the fact he can do all the things a skinny person could do... it's just you were shallow in your body judgement.
Re: Should Sales be captain of England by now?
