I thought this thread was going to be about a recall for Sami...

I guess the reasoning is that white teams are more at risk from terror attacks as it would be more symbolic to target English or Australian cricketers and indirectly their governments who have generally been pro-Bush. But i'm not convinced they would target cricket - in propaganda terms its a bit of a no-no alienating people in the East, a sport centred around India, and its subcontinent which is more old empire than new 'axis of evil'.

Think I read something about people linked to the 7/7 bombings planning to attack Lords during the last Ashes series. But the bombers didn't want to carry this through - some of them were keen league cricketers themselves!

Interesting choice of Sri Lanka as back-up host too... , as I said a few weeks ago, Rangoon is nice at this time of the year... Personally I think England should tour, we should be building bridges not burning them. And without the Aussies there we might even have an outside chance of winning the damn thing.
