DARREN Berry has resigned as assistant coach of the Victorian Bushrangers.
Berry, who captained Victoria to its most recent Sheffield Shield win in 2004, took up the job under coach Greg Shipperd 18 months ago.
Last season he helped the Bushrangers reach all three finals: Sheffield Shield, one-day and Twenty20.
"I've loved my involvement with Victorian cricket. However, the travel component of coaching has taken its toll and I'm keen to spend more time at home with my young family," Berry said yesterday.
"I'd like to thank Cricket Victoria for the opportunity to coach at this level, Greg Shipperd for his guidance and support, and particularly the players with whom I hope I've had an influence."
The Bushrangers, who leave this weekend for a pre-season camp at Mooloolaba, are yet to name a replacement.

Everyone's a qunt nowadays. Mind you if I was Dubya, the financial services sector, terrorists or Zim I'd be pretty pissed off being put in the same category as Berry.

Fair do's. I have a soft spot for Somerset, having discovered during my formative days on the great game (in the 70s) that Greg Chappell and Kerry O'Keeffe both played there in the late 60s (when not many other Aussies were venturing to England). I cast an eye over the form and results of the County side now and then.

Seems they don't have the rights to do live scoring on state games...
