Re: ***Official 08/09 Sheffield Shield comp***
The real question is how far will the gap be between the Sozzies and the rest.....at the bottom of the table?

Re: ***Official 08/09 Sheffield Shield comp***
I was intending to go the Gabba to watch at least one day of every home Shield match this season but the first game is going to clash with the test in India. With a bit of luck the Indians will only need four days to smash the Aussies & I can head along to the Gabba on Monday unless that match only lasts three days.
Hopefully Mocca will be there.

stoopidinbredchips 2/13 - but it stormed all night and is dark and cloudy so I imagine it is not easy to bat but it serves them right for living in Brisbane

Why are the Gabba test pitches so good, but the Shield pitches so crap?

I'd like to see a comparison of first innings totals at the Gabba for both tests and SS games over the last 10 years.

I think in this case the bowler friendly conditions may be entirely atmospheric.

Does Andrew Symonds actually have to score big for Queensland in order to regain his Australian middle order spot? Or does he just have to pass an aptitude test?

Re: ***Official 08/09 Sheffield Shield comp***
Well obviously the test pitch gets more attention and the atmospheric conditions must be great at the moment. There's only one test match played a year in Brisbane but 5 shield matches, so the stats may be skewed.
The reason for years that QLD were labelled chokers was because they were normally light years ahead into the new year but didn't play at home after that. No other state wanted to play there at the height of summer.
A precedent adopted by the NFL when the Superbowl was introduced and the decision was made to play it at neutral venues. No-one wanted to go to Green Bay in the middle of winter.

Overrated dubber Hughes fails again.
I don't know what is funnier - how crap the Spivs side is or the fact that the Wozzies lost to them

If it was up to Horrie, Hughes would be the Australian team's coach, manager, bus driver, maseusse, and opening batsman.
