Frankly, impressive as the huge Ozzie sporting stadia might be in their own way, you can't beat this.

This is how a cricket ground should look.

Beautiful...and all within a 10 minute stroll of my front door. Very Happy

Aye - I prefer my cricket grounds to look like cricket grounds rather than bowls.

Hence why the rose bowl & chester-le-street leave me a bit cold.

Nice one!
Impressive lights and new stand.

Does TB have an Ashes gig next year?

It's proximity to the North-East coast probably had something to do with it having the same effect on me when I went up there for a game a few years ago!

No Test match. 😢

Dumbass ECB.

Deprived the side of their best opportunity for a win as much as anything else. Evil or Very Mad

However, they've sweetened the bitter pill by making us the only venue outside of London to be hosting the World T20, including one of the Semi-Finals, and we also get two of the Oz JAMODI's back-to-back on a Tuesday and Thursday under the lights in September.

Shame ... yet glorious Cardiff get the first Test!
Way to go, eh .... Rolling Eyes

Think those lights prolly worked in TB's favour ...
Lord's (MCC) now agreed on installing retractable lights - to 20M - (serious opposition
from local residents to the full monty) in time for next years T20.
Just waiting to see how it hits the pocket! Wink

Aye, don't get me started on that decision!

Expect a hike in everything next season to pay for that, Merls if our experience has been anything to go by!

Still - well worth it I reckons.

Discounting all the other benefits of having such a top class venue on my doorstep, there should be a great deal more floodlit cricket at TB from next season, which means I get better value for my membership as I get to see more of it after work. Smile

Multi-functional scoreboard too.

Displays stunningly high definition stills (of players and so on) when the TV cameras aren't there, and is also the replay screen when they are - again in HD.

Impressive bit of kit.

Sage. Although it is ferkin comfortable there is something sterile about watching cricket at the Gabba. It's not that different from watching it in your living room

I've been to the Gabba and the MCG, and my Spiv bias says that the SCG sh!ts on both of them for character, charm and history. [awaits howls of indignation from the Viles]

Aye.

The MCG was pretty impressive with the best part of 90,000 shivering inside it on Boxing Day 2006, but when I actually think of the cricket I saw in the last Ashes series, my mind wanders to sitting in Block 15 at the SCG and directly across the square and the action in the middle in front of me to the pavilion at the other side.

Felt like a cricket ground, whereas the MCG was a stadium.

In fact, here's one that I took from my seat.

What a great sight... PICT0244

Had that as my wallpaper on my PC for a good year after we got back. Smile

But...er the MCG is bigger...... Wink When the MCG is full there is nothing like it, but when it's empty it is very sterile.

Howls? Hardly Razz

Yeah, I have been to the SCG. It's a great ground. Perfect place to watch cricket. And I would probably agree with it having a lot more character and charm. But I think your claim that it 'shits all over the MCG for history' is a bit silly. The MCG is bathed in history.
