Re: England's Bowling Attack for Sri Lanka Test Series
Jeez people, Tremlett wouldn't be anywhere near my test squad for this tour. Bounce on slow low wickets in SL your having a laugh..... Plus still think he's sh1t.
Anyway my team to start the first test...
Cook
Strauss
Vaughan
KP
Collingwood
Bell (unfortunately)
Mustard/Prior
Swann
Anderson
Hoggard
Panesar...
Tremlett doesn't go.. Harmison neither
I'd like a third spinner, plus Sibo and Broad (keeps its alot tighter, bowls a better length, and bats).
Shah as my backup batter although i'd love him to play, and think he'd do better than Bell in SL.

If we had three spinners who could be expected to trouble the S/L batsmen - fine, pick them, but we don't - so why bother. Have Swann in the squad if you must, but a third spinner would be excess baggage. I would give the last bowling place to Broad.

Three spinners for me means Trembles doesn't go... Thats all i'm after,
And those that say he was our best bolwer in the India series...
B0ll0cks!!
Sidebottom was the best bolwer we had, he was also incredibly unucky

Yes, he was the best seamer by a mile. Many want to forget him already because he's past the midway point of his career. His accuracy will be massively important on unhelpful pitches.

I would give the new ball to two of Hoggy, Jimmy and SiBo and make Harmi first change. He did a good stock bowler job in that role in Pakistan.

Oh look, an English leggie takes a 7-fer....
Mike Munday, he's a wrist spinner
Not heard him mentioned before, but he's averaging just over 30 and he has a previous 6-fer. Is he any cop? According to crocinfo he's only a wee lad at 5'8", so he'd need to give it some air.

Make that 8 wickets against zummerzat. He's an Oxford grad so he must be pretty bright.

SF, I made a Trevor-esque further down the page about him.
As I mentioned in the thread, Terry Jenner coached all three of Lawson, Rashid and Munday and thinks that Munday is the best. Well, reckons he's got the best leg-break anyway. Well, just rates him best.

I'm not holding my breath about Munday.
Dennis Lillee was once quoted as saying he's seen the best young paceman he'd set his eyes on in years.
The bowler?
None other than the great Sajid Horseface Mahmood...

Well, JKL, on his day he is/was. How'd you know that DKL didn't see him on a good day? When I first saw him it was quite 'wow'. Further to this, he actually coached them for a while. Not took two minutes with them and made a snap descision.

Horse face has just been badly looked after. Someone with his pace and obvious willingness to bowl (unlike the Harmlessone) should have been given more support. I thought Flintoff handled him appallingly in the last Ashes series . . . enough to destroy anyone's confidence.

Well, Mark, you're right. He's no Brett Lee for you to drool over!
Helllloooooooooo! Massive! MASSIVE!
Re: England's Bowling Attack for Sri Lanka Test Series
Well, Munday hasn't played enough first team cricket this year, that is for sure.

He's always looked promising, just don't think he's got the mental side to being a test bowler.
Bowls far too many slower balls as well.

Don't be daft, Lilleem was out of his head on class A's when he said that.

Agreed. More needs to be done on the mental side because, as I said, on his day there's not many like him.
