Re: Squad for Aussie tour of India
Damn, another quality thread content lost.
Let me recap.
Para Letic (AKA Mocca) is obsessing about getting the Walking Hamstring Injury into the Aus side at no. 6 v India.
I argued quite simply that Australia had won it's last 3 Tests (on low slow decks not unlike those they'll face in India) and that Fleas' last 3 Test scores (in the last 2 of those Tests) were 113, 36 and 157. Watson on the other hand is a T20 pretty boy who has broken down every time he has represented Aus in any game of consequence.
Hmm, who should be chosen at 6 for Aus?

My invitation is always open skully. See you downtown.
Obsessing about Watto are you nuts I'm merely stating what everyone here knows he will replace Symonds. You're the only dill promoting fleas at six.
The only chance for Katich is whether they will risk Jaques .

The selectors seem to be pushing Watto at 6 ....and you are the only one agreeing with them ...everyone else can see he's a farken joke as a Test cricketer (ATM) and that Fleas is a far better option ...

Watto a regular at 6?
Could happen, eventually, but not until he gives up bowling entirely. It's already cruelled his career for about 5 years.

So how is he supposed to post now? ... as I understand it, he literally can't post as Zimmy, and now his replacement has been banned.

Erm, wasn't that his famous last words. "I'm going and never coming back". Would've thought he'd be unphased.

Not a test player, why? I can see him putting on quick runs at 6 and his outfielding is terrific.
Mick Sawyer got it spot on saying don't overwork Watson.
We will see. Watson is a better prospect for Australia long term and he will get his chance in Bangalore.
Swap Katich for Symonds? The selectors exchange like with like always have.

Not a Test player , why?
FFS ...have you seen him bat in a Test?...he goes completely into his shell and refuses to play a shot ...quick runs ....only if he eats a dodgy curry
Clarke will do more bowling in India ...because for some reason the best players of spin cant play his bowling ...and Katich's chinamen are as useful as Roy's offies

Re: Squad for Aussie tour of India
The only reason you could play the WHI is to alloy you to play 2 spinners. ie his ramrod straight millitary mediums don't offer anything over what the 3 quicks will provide and if they aren't a threat he certainly won't ne.
And as we don't have one spinner let alone 2...

I keep saying his RECENT form has been excellent and he knows India's pitches.
477 runs and 17 wickets and only 27.

Is that his IPL stats?....FFS ...You realize these are Tests not domestic T20s
"Knows India's pitches" ...that only makes Flea's claims stonger ...and none of the frontline bowlers have played a Test in India ...so do we leave them out

Will oil be forked. I never thought I'd see the day that someone would think domestic T20 form was good enough for test cricket.
The roads served up for that bear as much resemblance to Injun test pitches as I do to Ron Jeremy

Re: Squad for Aussie tour of India
The point was he can score quickly on indian pitches. He could do the same for Australia especially at six. He got a hundred in an ODI in the Windies.
Shield cricket goes for four days and often our standard is pretty high compared to domestic cricket in other countries and Watson has good shield form.
If he was a West Australian you would be voting him in yourself.
Watson will play at six Katich is there to cover top order problems if any.
