World Cup Qualifier
A fair effort against fairly weak opposition, but 4-0 was a good result for Aus v Qatar last night. Josh Kennedy and Timmy Cahill were outstanding.

Re: World Cup Qualifier
I was more interested in the talkback topic which preceded it proclaiming that the socceroos have overtaken the Aussie cricket team in people's hearts and minds. It seems this game is slowly overtaking our traditional sports.

I haven't seen too much outstanding young talent coming through after Viduka, Kewell, and Cahill. Methinks that the Socceroos will slide again in about 18 months time.

And FFS, can't they change their name?! "Socceroos" is so childish.

given that FFA officials won't even appear on radio stations that call the game soccer I'm surprised that they haven't tried to get rid of it already.
The twits even tried to get the commentators to call the ground Brisbane stadium instead of Suncorp with about as much success

Not as far as I know.
The African sides have nicknames (cameroon = indominbale lions, nigeria = super eagles) and Italy are the Azure but I am unaware of any south american or other european sides with nicknames

Nope. Australia seem to be the only team that uses a handle but my research was brief.
