When did Collingwood "improve"? And what was I doing at the time to miss it?
He's had a shocking year.

He was a below average keeper when he came in to the team. Now he's pretty much up there with the best in the world playing right now.

He scored his first and only ton in his 5th test. He hasn't scored another in his next 26.

After 11 tests his dismissal per match was at at 3.63. It is now at 2,80.
Some improvement.

Yeah well, he comes in at 7, scores at a good rate. He'll get a few tons in the future. Also has improved as a batsman. Also, I was mainly talking about his keeping.

His batting average has dropped. His dismissal average has dropped.
Once again, how does that make him one of the most improved players in the world?

But has Ishant improved? He seems to have been the same since he burst onto the scene.

I think he has mate. More consistently at the batsman, reverse swinging after 6 or 8 overs & a greater number of unplayables.

Dismissal average doesn't really prove anything either way. It's as meaningless as rankings and Boucher's max dismissal record. You'd have to actually watch him play. Same goes for batting.

Stuart Broad.
After the 6 sixes in an over mauling at the T20 WC, he's become a gun in one day cricket.
Fingers crossed he can transfer it into the longer version too.

Boucher is a far better keeper. So batting averages are meaningless?

Re: World's most improved cricketers
No, I said you'd have to watch him play to see that he has improved. Dismissal per match ratio is meaningless. It's more or less how effective your bowlers are at making the batsman edge it behind.
As for Boucher being the better keeper, probably but I have my doubts. That has nothing to do with how much Dhoni has improved.
