Massa 1st, Hamilton 4th - will he blow it?
Chokathon coming up?
If Massa wins where does he have to finish - no lower than 6th?

5th.
.... as long as he keeps clear of trouble and doesn't lose his head pushing to win it, and providing Kimi doesn't ram him off the track .... he's got the championship in the bag with the car he's got.

Someone is going to ram him off the track, he's pretty much the most hated guy on the circuit amongst the other drivers.

Aye, it's going to happen...
Hamilton still 1.3 at betfair, Massa 4.2

Don't think it works that way vilks.
Not risking a lengthy ban from a sport that pays its drivers millions .... but shuns those who have 'history'.
Also, the "hatred" only stems from envy of a determined driver in the best car.
Watch that hatred change to total love should one of those hate-mongers be offered a seat in the second McLaren car next year!

I hope it doesn't happen, I just have this feeling. Raikkenon saying "I will help Massa win" started to get me worried and it's not like it hasn't happened before (Hill and Schumacher).Merlin wrote:Don't think it works that way vilks.

I'd rather he just screwed it up himself than someone colliding with him, would be a bitter pill to swallow. He should already be champion if it wasn't for that ridiculous fiasco when he was moved from 1st position to 3rd.

LH just needs to keep his ego in check and he'll win. But I think he has a touch of the Gambhirs when it comes to reacting to proVocation.

Think I heard him mention just treating it as another race, well that's the one thing he can't afford to do. On this occasion he needs to concentrate on the championship not the race. If he tries to race Massa and Raikkonen then he will get involved in incidents and potentially blow it. It may not be in his nature but given the grid positions he needs to follow the Ferraris at a safe distance, look to finish 3rd or 4th, hope his car holds out and that Kovalainen can give him any backup he needs, and not do anything that might give the FIA (Ferrari International Assistance) stewards the opportunity they will no doubt be looking for to penalise him.

It'd be a massive surprise if Kimi was involved in that kind of shit - he's known as one of coolest drivers around, an old-school drive-hard, party-harder kind of F1 driver. Don't think he has an enemy within the entire sport.
Alonso, however, at six - directly behind Hamilton - has got nothing to lose and has made it clear on several occasions his dislike of Hamilton, and desire that Massa beats him to the title. If anyone's going to take him out deliberately, Alonso's your man.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with Trulli in the Toyota. I assume he's on light fuel, and can probably race Massa for the lead right from the off. Could panic him into a mistake, given that he'll feel like winning is his only option, to be jostling for the lead against a faster car in the first few corners.
Laugh my ass off if Massa gets tangled up with Trulli, after all the talk of people nobbling Hamilton.
Re: Massa 1st, Hamilton 4th - will he blow it?
Is Alonso currently the youngest ever F1 champion? If so, maybe he will try to keep the title.

If Hamilton wins the championship - IF - at Interlagos this afternoon, he will have beaten Princess Alonso by 4 months
to being the youngest ever winner.
Seems focused in the interview just now - just wish him luck in keeping clear of the hateful Spaniard.

The stewards really have been taking the piss, its ridiculous really. Although at this Interlagos track everyone should be having a drive through penalty every lap, they all cut the pit lane line on the last corner...
Provided Hamilton can avoid the usual rush of blood to the head i think he will do it.

It's been a fantastic, nail biting race so far. The heavy rain just before the start added to the drama.

Hamilton 5th which is where he needs to be.
Trouble is Raikonnen is 4th, could be where any problems are found.

Should probably qualify that as I can't be 100% sure the stewards won't fark Hamilton over!

Re: Massa 1st, Hamilton 4th - will he blow it?
Hamilton's drive to take Glock and 5th place to win the Championship with just 2 corners to the finish line was sheer brilliance.
Deserved champion.
Agony for Massa ... told over the radio that he was champion with a lap to go only to find it snatched away in the dying seconds.
But ... wasn't it great to see the Ferrari pit mob's jubilation one moment turn to stunned disbelief the next!
Just a shame that the Brazillian crowd saw fit to boo Hamilton at the end.

True, but you know that if Massa had won the championship at Silverstone to deny Hamilton the British crowd would do the same.
Enthralling race really, and it has been a renaissance season for F1 in my opinion. Thinking back to Spa, Silverstone, Monza... three classics right there.
Right man won? On balance, probably yes, but you have to feel for Massa, probably the most improved driver since last season.
And I'd also like to pay tribute to David Coulthard, he has almost been forgotten in all this. He may go down as a 'nearly man' but he was competitive right from his first season with Williams (my team... and how shit they are now!) and he is high up on the all time points scorers list.
Roll on next season, with proper slick tyres, reduced aerodynamics and regenerative braking systems. Will be one to watch I reckon.

Will they allow the drivers to actually 'race' though? This season they seemed to penalise anyone who wanted a head to head race...
