Potential Alien invasion troubled me in India, admits Lee

Brett Lee may be coming close to admitting the truth about his poor form in India. After saying he was sick and that troubled him, then saying his marriage ending had troubled him, the Aussie speedster has revelaed that his fear of a cataclysmic alien invasion had caused his pace, accuracy and form to drop away.

"One one of the bus trips, the DVD was 'Independence Day' and I'd never seen it before," said Lee. "The effects were so lifelike that every time I looked towards the sky in India, I could almost feel the alien countdown signal pulsing through my body. And when you start thinking that there might not be a world tomorrow, it makes it pretty hard to focus on playing cricket."

Lee's admissions also shed light on one of the other tour's controversies, the slow over rate saga after tea in the fourth Test. "It was revelaed to me during tea on the fourth day that I wouldn't get a bowl after the break, which left me a bit disappointed, but when Punter was off the ground, I thought I'd get in Pup's ear to see if I could come on and finish the job. While I could hear exactly what he was saying, his hand gestures made more than clear that 'we can't give you a bowl, because the alien countdown has gone from nine to eight, and we're a chance of a draw if the world ends before India are all out' is what he was saying."
