ANDREW Symonds's international cricket career is in the balance after allegations surfaced that he was involved in a bar-room fight in Brisbane.
Cricket Australia is investigating an alleged incident involving the all-rounder in a Brisbane pub just hours after Australia's first Test win over New Zealand.
Symonds is understood to have been drinking with several members of the Australia rugby league team when a fight allegedly broke out. It's not clear whether he was an aggressor in the incident or whether he was provoked prior to the altercation.

If it's found to be his fault, Roy should be told to piss off for good.
My guess is that a 'thorough CA investigation' will exonorate him.
Although why a bloke who admits he has a problem when on the drink decides to go for a few with a bunch of well-behaved blokes like the Aussie R Leeg team is a bit beyond me...

One of the best stories surrounding his thickness was when the players put their one day shirts in the laundry basket to be taken away for cleaning. Symonds wanted to get his back so he could put his name on it.

His first book 'Roy' begins each chapter with a supposedly true tale by a fellow cricketer similar to that.
To this day I believe it was Roy who was doing the leg pulling.

A statement was read out by the Manager/owner of the Normanby Hotel.
Roy had been drinking only light light beer with the team and a patron kept trying to hug him and asking for autographs and such. No gender specified. Roy politely said no. The Manager said the patron was evicted and it was a pity people continually harassed sports stars in Hotels.

According to Craddock, Symonds pushed the patron and he had been drinking quite a while and was there until relatively late. He thought it rather silly of Symonds to be seen drinking with the rugby blokes in public when he's already no notice.

Relatively late? Journo speak. The game had to be over plus the trip plus the dressing room changeing plus Stewart's tearful post mortem. I doubt they got there before 2300 EST

I think regardless of who did what, it's clear that Symonds is nowhere near ''rehabilitated". If he was, then surely the last place he would want to go is a well known rowdy pub with a bunch of Aussie rugby league players. The guy should be banned again. And that should be it.
The most important factor is that once again his teammates are apparently shaking their heads in disbelief at his actions.

But he's developing a habit of getting into trouble. Ponting had had similar problems back in 98-99 but he cleaned up his off field act within the space of a month (The black eye obviously served as a wake up call for him) and there hasn't been any incidents since. Symonds seems to be finding it much more diffcult.
