Re: Australia v South Africa, 1st Test, Perth, Dec 17-21
Johnson spoiled Furriner's carefully prepared original* bon mot, is what happened.
*'Original' in the sense that Bliksem was the first to use it on this forum.

Bows most politely to horace.
The only good news for RSA is that their keeper-batsman is still in. If he can diligently protect 10 and Jack from the strike, they might get the margin down to double figures.

agreed...boucher is an intelligent and able bat...steyn looks a bunny tho and Ntini must be delighted that chris martin is playing in the same era.

Re: Australia v South Africa, 1st Test, Perth, Dec 17-21
Well, in between spending much time swearing at the home computer and trying to disinfect it, I enjoyed the later stages of yesterday. Again, this match showing why Test cricket is such a good form of the game, and superior to anything that the ADD generation may want.
MJ - Bowled tightly all day, shanged pace, line, and length to great effect. The South African batsmen looked as though they were taking inspiration from Darryl Cullinan's "How to play Warney" video when facing him. And that last spell? Magic.
Lee - Didn't really look like taking wickets, but didn't bowl in his usual profligate 'well, I'm not taking wickets so I'll just send them down faster' method. I suppose that having managed to scrape together 300 test wickets, he may have learned something on the journey.
Siddle - Steady. No shocks, but few surprises. May well benefit from an extended spell in the team, but that might be a year or two off.
Krezja - Unlucky to have only one wicket. Gave one of the best spinner's clinics on the WACA in a long time. Hoggy said he was rapt watching Krazy bowl yesterday.

good grief ....stoopid skipper throws the ball to the Sponsor's Exemption at the start of play...at least he gave Midge the first over.

midge has 8 as yukky stain falls...maybe the stoopid skipper was smart putting the sponsors exemption on at the other end - ensuring only Midge could get a wicket

Johnson to Boucher, 2 runs, that's high in the air, is that the ninth for Johnson? It's still in the air, and it falls safe! Boucher tried to hook but the ball hit the top edge and flew high in the air towards a fine, fine leg, Haddin ran backwards from his position, Lee runs to his right from fine leg, Lee aborts his charge after he sees Haddin going for it but Haddin doesn't reach the ball in time
is there anything those vin ordinaire spivs won't do to stuff up a win for the Aussies

<83.3 Sponsor's Exemption to Ntini, FOUR, shot! SE bowls a half-volley outside off stump, Ntini drives off the front foot and finds the gap at cover, he's timed it well enough to get four>

boucher is a clever batsman...refreshing to see a batsman taking the responsibility to protect the tail while scoring runs in support of his team and without regard to the record books

Fark that was frustrating - Lee would have swallowed it by Haddin called him off.
Lee bowling absolute tripe at the moment.
